"Baby!"

Olivia called out mildly as she gently opened the front door, and stepped into the house. Kingsley her husband was resting on the sofa when she entered, he stood up, hugged her, and proceeded in asking her how her day at work was.

"Honey guess what?"

"Uhmmm, they gave you the promotion finally?"

He asked bee happily.

" No they didn't, in fact, they delayed it again for months and said it may run into years if the company's financials are not taken care of as soon as possible.

"Ohh, that's so bad, I'm so sorry darling, don't worry, you would get a bigger one".

When he couldn't guess further, Olivia handed him an envelope and asked he should open it. In it was a later and he quickly read it. Funny enough, it was her promotion letter, he laughed and said to her.

"You again, you always pranking me"

They both laughed and he hugged her tightly, saying how proud he was of her. Due to her promotion, her salary increased., That meant good fortune for her and her family right?

The next day, which was a Saturday, Olivia woke early and dressed herself and her 10year old Sharon, in order to go to the salon to make their hair. She proceeded to the sitting room and told Kingsley. He offered to give her some money, but she told him not to worry, that she had some money on her, and from the looks of things, it would be able to pay for their hairdos.

Kingsley didn't probe further. When she got back, she got back home with some foodstuffs, and he asked her where she had gotten the money to buy them from, and she said it was from the little change that remained from their hair, and so she thought it wise to branch to the market and buy some foodstuffs because it was lacking in the house.

"Why did you have to do that., Listen, babe, I'm the man here and you should ask me for money to go shopping okay? Always ask me for money before heading to the market next time alright?

She felt a little embarrassed and all that. She didn't like the attitude her husband was giving her lately. She talked with her friend and this friend of hers by the name Annabel, who happen to be her best friend and she advised her that her husband was jealous of her money and insecure because she earned a lot, and whenever he confronted her, she should give it back to him in her own words.

Things kept happening, Olivia soon got a washing machine and told Kingsley about it. Kinsley was unhappy and stood from the sofa and left the parlor. While he was on his way out, Olivia had said that it was only being jealous and insecure.

"Insecure??" He slapped her in her face hard for that. So unlike him. He had never hit his wife.

Olivia was so angry, and burst into tears, at this Kingsley was so sorry for slapping her, but she didn't want to hear him out.

She told Anne her friend and all of these and she still attributed it to the fact that she earned more and Kingsley didn't like it at all.

She advised her to get a divorce with Kingsley, according to her, it's best for her to end things with Kingsley.

The thought of how Sharon their 10year old would feel about the sudden broke her. Kingsley wasn't sleeping at home because of his offense of slapping Olivia. Olivia wasn't getting the whole thing at all, she still proceeded with the divorce which her friend advised her to have.

Luckily her mom got to visit them both and persuaded her, giving her a million and one reason not to.

Her mom drove Ann from the house when she found out it was her feeding her daughter's ears with divorce. Olivia in a bid to apologize has gone to visit Ann at her home and to her greatest surprise, she heard Shoutings from outside. It was Ann's husband. He was beating her mercilessly. Olivia was so emotionally down that day, getting to know the kind of husband her friend got married to. She shared it with her mom and her mom was surprised.

"You mean her husband beats her and she didn't think of having a divorce, and here she is, advising to divorce your husband because of a mere slap. Take it from me, that lady is a devil and she only wants to destroy your home. She is definitely not your friend.

All these scenes got Olivia cracked up. Already, it's been over a week and Kingsley hasn't come home because of their misunderstandings. He came home and begged her that he was sorry., That he Misses her, the house, and Sharon. But Olivia refused to listen to him. Moreover, she laid the rent that month so it was typically her house.

Kingsley's best man came to speak to her on how Kingsley was sorry.,.that he hit her not because he wanted to, but because he wasn't in a right state and frame of mind. He had drank a lot the previous night and as a result of that, he was still tipsy when all these happened.

Olivia confronted Kingsley when he came home the next day with Sharon because he usually picked her up from school lately just so he could see her every day.

And then, she handed him the divorce papers.

"I've signed mine". She said., "Do well to sign your part."

Kingsley didn't know what to think, he was home emotionally destabilized. he explained things to his friend, and Tony advised they both have a drink to calm him down, but Kingsley stated he dropped drinking after slapping his wife under its influence, and here, his home and marriage are about to end.

Somehow, Olivia missed her husband, so she decided to go visit him to talk things out. She went to the address Tony had given her previously, she could see Kingsley's car outside, and then he was coming out of the main house with a pregnant woman that was in labor, holding her close and firmly, he put her in the car and drove off. This scene alone caught Olivia off guard. Does it mean Kingsley is cheating on her, it has been cheating on her for a long time now., Oh no!

She went home, stayed on the balcony for hours, deep and down in thoughts. However, her mom had noticed and come to ask her what the problem was. Emotional Olivia spilled it all out, and the mom told her that her husband is responsible, and maybe it's not what she thinks. She didn't want to believe it, but somehow she felt all the drama was baseless. I mean, it was just an accidental slap that caused all of these. Kingsley has never dared raise hands on her before, and he was nothing like Ann's husband.

The next day, there was a knock on her door and she went to open it when she found it was her fake and evil friend Ann.

"What are you doing here?"

"I am sorry Olivia, please forgive me. I didn't mean to push you to divorce your husband, if there is anyone that need to divorce, it's me.

"Then why didn't you divorce Fred, your husband after all the violent"

" Because I want to work things out with him, and I love him."

" Okay, why were you then pushing me to divorce mine.

" I'm so sorry Olivia, the fact is, I was jealous of what you and Kingsley shared. The Understanding, love, care , affection. You people's happy family got me jealous because mine was in no way near perfect or good. I'm so sorry, my jealousy made me advice you to do all of that, please forgive me"

Ann begged...

Olivia was shocked at this. Here is a lady that called herself been best friend but was ready to destroy her marriage.

"After this, we can't be friends anymore. Stand up and leave my house now!"

Olivia said standing with tears in her eyes. Ann got up and left. And turned back when she was at the door. "Kingsley is a very good and responsible man, I hope you fix things with him"

She left. Just then, Olivia's mom came in and told her " this is the last advise I would give you, fix up this Before it gets late."

She left, went to Kingsley's house and begged him to see his wife. Kingsley came, begged her that he was sorry and all that. With the way she loved him, she quickly forgave him and things went back to normal.

She apologized for feeling too proud and doing and buying things in the house without his consent. Even if she earned more, be deserves that respect as her husband.

His husband too apologized for taking things too personally. They sat and planned their lives together and financial goals as couples.

In marriage, it doesn't matter who earns higher, let go of pride, and both parties shouldn't falter in their responsibilities either. Wives, respect your husband and don't act bossy. Husband's support them, love them and understand them. That way, you're making it easier for them to be more submissive.
