Until when?

The last few days I have been thoughtful and distressed by everything that is happening in the world. Where is humanity headed? What awaits us in the future if we continue to behave in an unconscious and selfish way? It is unfortunate that there are events like the massacre in Texas where innocent children were killed and robbed of their right to life, to grow and to dream. I do not understand what goes through the mind of an individual who without any scruples violently attacks and murders a group of people in a supermarket, in a movie theater, in a school, anywhere. We are not and do not feel safe anywhere and we live in anxiety every time we take our children to school.

I do not understand how it is possible that war exists, where thousands of people are killed and mutilated, innocent victims (men, women and children), and many others have to flee leaving their properties that cost them effort and hard work to get, leaving behind their dreams, their country to be strangers in another place. I do not understand the unjust decisions of politicians, who do not love their people and subject them to the scourge and torture of war. The lust for power, for territorial hegemony, for natural resources and for controlling everything is leading the governments of the world to take wrong steps that will probably lead us to self-destruction. I call for world peace!

I do not understand how there are men who savagely rape, outrage and murder defenseless women, with the absurd excuse that it was for love. Many children have been orphaned by insane murderers who took the lives of their mothers because they did not submit to their whims. I understand even less when I read on social networks how some people justify violent acts against women by saying that they did it because of the way they dressed, the way they walked, their makeup, or because they went to a party at night to have fun.

I don't understand how an individual can murder another to steal a cell phone or a pair of shoes. How is it possible that life has no value and is taken away so coldly? Is the life of another so undervalued that it is taken away for a pair of shoes, for a phone or for a few bills?

I do not understand how there are parents who mistreat, abuse, torture and murder their children (defenseless boys and girls), when their duty is to educate them, care for them, love them and protect them even at the cost of their own lives. So much for social decomposition and the lack of values in the family!

I do not understand how in the 21st century there is discrimination based on race, creed, sexual orientation and physical appearance and I even less understand individuals who make fun of and kill others for being different. It is time to understand that we live in a diverse world, tolerance is essential for a healthy coexistence. We are children of God and we all fit on this planet, it is time to accept ourselves with our differences, ideas, opinions and ways of thinking.

I don't understand! Why do poverty and hunger continue to exist? Why do thousands of children and the elderly die of malnutrition every year? And why in some countries is access to health and education so expensive and limited? Why does the exploitation of man by man continue to exist? Why are the fundamental human rights of the most defenseless in the system (the poor) violated?

How long are we going to allow ourselves to be carried away by base instincts and irrationality? How long will we be selfish and individualistic?

It is time to leave selfishness and individualism, we must learn to put ourselves in the shoes of others, we must learn to love and accept others. Life is short and cruelty makes it even shorter. Remember that the vanities of life end in the grave. Let's help whoever needs it. Out there are many people eager for a smile, a word of encouragement, a hug, clothes, a plate of food, a couple of coins, let's run to their aid and offer the best of us.

There are many things that happen in this world that I don't understand; but I still believe and I still have faith in humanity and in the conscience of the rulers. I'm sure there are more good people than evil (good will reign over evil). If we want a better world, let's start by improving ourselves and with small actions we promote change.

Happiness and being a better person is a choice, therefore choose to be happy by being a better person and doing good.
