In this society we live in, a lot of things can be noticed. Changes are prevalent, and it is inevitable. We can see things change here and there, and we, people, do as well. With all the problems we have, what else can you say to the social ills present in society?
Here comes Rizal. Just like what I said yesterday, he is one of the vanguards in resisting and advocating change, especially political and social, during the Spanish Era. He still resounds throughout the country up until the present time. We can all be like him in our own little ways. He may have died several years ago already, yet his ideals are still simportant. He guides us to strive hard in life, especially the youth. This is to defy all odds as well as boundaries so that we could reach our full potential and accomplish the best things in life.
However, the question is what social, political, economic, and cultural changes could possibly make another Rizal in our present times. With this question, let us talk about it. I have given my best to tackle each one of them for you to better understand my points.
Social Changes
The things that could possibly make another Rizal in the present is first when there is a need for fundamental social change. Moreover, many individuals don’t know already how to give respect to other person especially to those who belong to LGBTQIA+ and vulnerable groups. With this, what the present Rizal could do is to help those who feel inferior to gain their confidence and help make a positive impact in the society. Lastly, by addressing the society’s perception of race to improve racial equality.
Economic Changes
In terms of economic changes, the things that could possibly make another Rizal is the increasing number economic problems such as the effects of the pandemic. With the increasing price of goods and services, it makes life more tougher especially to those who are part of the poorest of the poor. With this, a new Rizal could be possibly made. As a Rizal, the things he could do is to make use of the new technology to raise awareness on how people could use the time they spent online in earning something such as being smart enough to find jobs online, that could at least revive the economy.
Political Changes
In terms of political changes, the first thing that could possibly make another Rizal in the present is the undying emergence of corrupt politicians, whose pockets always get fat. As a present Rizal, what he could do is to reform the government. Raise awareness to people on voting for the deserving ones. Let us not be tempted to the money, which some politicians give when running for position because those who have care for us are what we need. We deserve to live in a community filled with peace and a government that is healthy, not a country filled with crocodiles that are filthy.
Cultural Changes
It can be noticed that many of us are slowly turning our back to our own and started patronizing other’s cultures. It’s not bad, but everything that is too much is not good enough. Another is the increasing number of teens that are getting pregnant. With these things, a new Rizal could be possibly made and make changes. As a present Rizal, he would use his voice in giving importance to what our national hero wants us to have and to live, and that is the love for our own country and culture. Lastly, to remind us that life is not a race of forming a family.
