Meditate On The Word Of The Lord
A. Explanation:
Prophet Zechariah in the vision of the future rejoiced and invited the people to share in this Joy. Because of the Lord, the Messiah will come humble but glorious. Peace and unity of all peoples will come with the Messiah.
If Christ is in us, even though the body is still dead, the spirit makes it alive because of good works. If God is in us, the death of the body is not eternal; God will raise it up and take it away from death. In the gospel the Father is praised in choosing the humble to receive the word of God. The enlightened people reject instead the teachings of the Gospel. In the second part of the Gospel Christ invites all who are weary of life so that they may feel comfort.
B. Thinking:
The weary and burdened ones recorded in the Gospel are still only those poor and ignorant ones mentioned in the first part. In scripture the yoke and the bow many times signify the requirements of the Law. The ancient people of God were overwhelmed by the teachers of the law; the ignorant are greatly burdened because they do not know what is real and what is unlawful and forbidden.
The first reading and the Gospel give importance to these ignorance and are therefore emphasized. The Lord gave them special care. In the letter we see the comparison of spirit and human nature. A more correct interpretation of this human nature would have been the flesh. The Flesh is the path chosen by man who believes that he alone can save himself; the spirit is the path by which God's help leads him.
C. Meditation:
In the presence of those who raise their heads believing that they know everything Christ focuses his teaching to the simple and without malice, but as a teacher and also as them.
The Lord like the teachers of the Law also led me to the Law of the Gospel. But it’s easy to carry. The sign is that we love his commandments and it is not difficult to keep his commandments. He himself was part of the poor society he was trying to gather: The humble and the meek and heartless. This is because all that he has does not come from him but he acknowledges that he received from the father. And because he himself bore the yoke that he bore. He did not hesitate to walk the path of the Cross; He carried it and eventually He died from the cross.
The followers of Christ would have had simplicity and righteousness. Humility is a sign of love where there is humility there is also love and brotherly living. Simplicity and righteousness are these qualities of those who truly seek God; in them there would never have been duplication. Simplicity reverses wastefulness, luxury and hypocrisy.
Many believe that Christianity is difficult. It’s really hard when the person is much chased, many and longed for. But if his thoughts are simple, if his search for God is sincere, he will see that what the Lord has said is true.
