Wash your potatoes. Scrubbing them lightly with a sponge or old cloth will do. After washing, cut them into thick strips like how you want your fries to be. Soak them in tap water with a little salt in a few minutes while you're preparing the coating/breading. A teaspoon of salt in a liter of water will do.
In a separate large bowl, mix altogether half a cup of flour, garlic powder, pepper and cayenne powder according to your taste. Throw in a tablespoon of breadcrumbs for that extra crunch. Mix very well.
Go back to your soaked potatoes. Drain and dry those potato strips by patting them with a paper towel. Toss them in your powder coating of goodness. Deep fry them in hot oil for 2-3minutes. When the color turns to slightly golden brown, strain and set aside for a minute over paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve with ketchup or with whatever dip you fancy. This is best enjoyed with your homemade burger, steak or whatever sandwich there is.
