Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 29) — Siblings Drex and Denice Zamboanga easily dispatched Thai foes in ONE Championship’s ‘A New Breed’ event at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
Drex, a former Universal Reality Combat Championship Bantamweight champion, made a stunning debut in ONE Championship by submitting Detchadin Sornsirisuphathin via a rear naked choke at the 4:58 mark in the second round.
He improved on his fight record to nine wins and five losses with the victory.
Denice also won via submission against Watsapiny Kaewkhong in the battle for the top contender of the atomweight title.
She only needed 93 seconds to finish the bout, finishing Kaehwong with an Americana in the first round.
Denice continued her undefeated slate for an eighth win in as many outings. She is expected to challenge defending ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee of Singapore.
Meanwhile, Fil-Am KC Carlos failed to complete the sweep of Filipino fighters in the ONE Bangkok card as she absorbed a second-round technical knockout loss to Wondergirl Fairtex.
Carlos dropped to a 17-13-1 record, while Wondergirl improved to 34-16-2.
