The skeletal system is the framework of the body which allows movement. The skeletal materials of humans are; bones, cartilage, muscles, tendons and others.
There are three types of skeleton and they are endoskeleton, exoskeleton and hydrostatic skeleton. We humans possess endoskeleton so that would be our bone of contention.
The endoskeleton is divided into two parts namely; the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton consists of the skull, vertebral column and the ribs whilst the appendicular skeleton consists of the limbs and limb girdles.
There are five vertebrae in vertebrates and these are; Cervical vertebrae, thoracic, lumbar, sacral and caudal which have number of bones as 7,12,5,5,4 respectively.
