Chemical bonds are forces of attraction between species. There are two types of chemical bonds and they are interatomic bonds and intermolecular bonds.

Interatomic bonds are forces of attraction which holds atoms in a molecule together. Some interatomic bonds are; ionic bonds, metallic bonds and covalent bonds.

Ionic bond is the electrostatic force of attraction between positively and negatively charged particles. Ionic bonds are formed between a metal and a non metal. Example of an ionic bond is salt.

Metallic bond is the electrostatic force of attraction between the delocalized and fixed positive ions of metal.

Covalent bond is the sharing of electrons between atoms in a bond to create a stable configuration of bonded species. This bond is formed between non metals.
