It was a fine day and I decided to do the laundry since it was a little bit early and I had nothing much to do.
My neighbor knocked on my door and invited me for a beer because it was her mothers birthday celebration.
I responded like i will so as not to disappoint him but the truth was, i don't want to drink.
I went quickly to the market while the machine was running, doing the laundry to buy for our breakfast. When i returned home our baby was already awake. My wife took care of our baby and I continued with the laundry.
It's almost late in the afternoon when I'm done and I can already hear voices singing on videoke from my neighbor. I can sense that they are already drunk.
The guy who invited me for a drink that morning went out and started shouting as if he had an enemy.
I just ignored it because during that time I was kind of depressed because of a family problem.
However the guy wont stop from shouting as if he wanted to provoke me. Then he approached me saying that I am going to call the police. I told him that i will not intend to and said to him that we just have to keep quiet because it's prohibited to make noise while drunk in our place. This is to avoid being in trouble.
The guy was persistent, he went inside their house and when he came out, he was carrying a knife. My wife told me to remain calm. He went over the guy and intervened.
Good thing the guy listened and stopped. However I have already prepared myself for any scenario and if something bad happens to my wife I can't forgive him and perhaps I will do the same.
My wife told me that the guy was really like that when he was drunk. Because I'm not from where we live but my wife's house. My mother -in -law arrived accompanied by our village officials. They took the drunk man to our village headquarters. They said I came to file a complaint. I said no that would be fine with me.
Days have passed, I ignored my neighbor. Then one day I didn't expect my neighbor to talk to me, which I was almost hostile to. He apologizes for what he did to me when he was drunk. He said he didn't know that he could do that to me because from the beginning I didn't show any bad behavior to him.
I, on the other hand, am just a human being so I accepted his apology and forgave him. He said he would not repeat such incidents. And that is what he proved. He doesn't drink that much anymore. He is also limited in drinking alcohol. So until now he has been a good neighbor to all of us here.
