It’s been almost a year since a pandemic came into our lives. Our human resources called us to make an inventory of the items we had left behind. I’m very excited to go to MPC on my first day because I left a lot of memories in that place. When I arrived at MPC I was a bit sad because it was quiet and there was no such person on the road. Not like in the days when there was no pandemic.
When I arrived in our area I immediately saw my co-worker, the assistant supervisor. He will be my inventory partner. He is the one who knows the tools of the banquet. I also know something but unlike him, he knows almost everything we use at the event.
We went to the office to report and take inventory lists. We saw that our area was very cluttered and dusty. If you look, it's boring to start with.
We sorted out the clutter first so that somehow we could move around properly. We were only given two days to complete the inventory. But as far as we can see, it will extend for a few more days. While we were busy arranging the equipment, the F&B manager of our company arrived. He had a man with and introduced him to us. I was surprised to be told that this would replace him in his position as F&B manager. We have a little bit of conversation then we continue with our inventory.
The manager came to ask us to have lunch. We didn't realize it was lunchtime. Because maybe we were busy and silent while counting utensils that I miss going to the kitchen so much. Formerly loud and not missing greetings to every encounter I ever met. During those times, it was very quiet. And we had lunch.
At the end of the day, we only did one area. We informed the manager that we were going home because it was time for us to go. I took home the things I had left.
We just walked out of the highway. When I arrived there I saw a line of people. So I asked what the line was. I found out that several free-riders were going north. So I didn't hesitate to line up because it's a big thing for me to be able to save even on the fare.
When I got off at the station where I had to get off, our house was a bit far from there. If I walk, I will walk for 30 minutes. There is a Jeepney traveling. But I'd rather just walk so I could save. At night, even walking is not so tiring and not hot. I have fun while walking because I have music to hear.
I arrived safely. Rest a little, I disinfect. It's hard for me to get a virus on the bus. I can still get infected because we still have a baby at home. I woke up early so that I could catch up with the free buses because the bus station is a bit far. I just took the train so I wouldn't be late for work.
And that's what happened again. We inventory again, eat lunch, inventory again, go home, and come in again in the morning, that's our routine until we finish four days of inventory.
In those days, it was worth it even if it was tiring and a bit stressful to take inventory. I saw my old friends, comparators, managers, and chef. It's nice to feel that they greet me warmly. They said that they missed my meanness, my antics and my being a joker. I also respond to them. Those with a coffee bar area have free ice coffee, in the kitchen, I have a special treatment. At the Bar captain, there will be 2 bottles of wine. So it's worth the inventory...
Thanks again for the memories we've shared in 4 days.
