Rome is for sure one of the touristy destinations to leave a transforming effect on your soul, not only because of its holy monuments, but also due to its breath-taking spots, panoramic scenes, bustling markets with trendy brands and mainly the great range of activities and events that you might find.

Rome is a city with deep roots in ancient history, and it still retains its splendor and beauty since the days of Pliny the Younger. Rome’s standing arches, forums, fountains, stalls and dazzling architecture would make you savour the moment if not the day of artful masons and craftsmen. Each corner tells a story, and thus, let you live the Roman culture. Rome is really a city full of events.

For the above reasons, exploring Rome should be attentively planned to get the most out of the eternal city. The following lines are an attempt to provide you with some experiences, or rather tips, to make your journey unforgettable after landing in Fiumicino or Ciampino. Mind to rest first after your flight as you will have plenty of things to do.

In Rome, do as the Romans do. I mean follow the locals in spending less. Your transfer from Fiumicino should be via the busses that you will fine just outside the airport. A ticket is worth 6 to 8 euros maximum. In your way to Termini, the center of Rome, you pass by plenty of must see places. This in fact gives a great sensation.

In Termini, you will have it all. Restaurants, coffee shops, bookshops, travel agencies, ATMs, and all that you need. I remember that I went up and have my first cup of coffee, Italian taste. Enjoy the moment and think of your plan. Don’t forget to get a monthly card for public transport instead of daily tickets; it’s really a good tip as you never think of going clandestine.

I remember I booked 7 days in a well-located flat with an affordable price. In Labaro, you will understand the meaning of the fresh air on the banks of Tiber. More than that, all the amenities are there, mainly the unimaginably affordable prices at Euro-Spin. From Termini, take the subway to Flaminio, and then take the Urbano train to Labaro. You will pass by a couple of stations; it is about 8 to 10 minutes. Mind that Flaminio is where a number of landmarks to see, Pincio Terrace, for instance, where you can see the baffling sun down.

You first day should include some famous spots in Rome, namely the Colosseo. Actually, you need to trace that path to visit the closing spots. These are the Colosseo, Arch of Constantine, the Forums, Circo Massimo, the Capitolini Museum, and many other must visit places. Starting from Termini, take the subway to Colosseo. When you get out of the station, you will be dazzled by the grandeur of the Coliseum. You can take a tour inside, but this often cost you more than expected. Book for a tour earlier! You may find Roman soldiers wearing helmets and taking shields. Personally, I don’t recommend taking photos with them.

Go through the Arch of Constantine to the Forum, where you will explore the beauty of Roman architecture, and the way they did design their cities and villages. If you are a fan of Ancient History, you will really enjoy the tour. Don’t forget that the scenery is amazing.

Your next stop will be Circo Massimo, and it is just a stone’s throw from the Forums. The scene will for sure remind you of the Romans’ meetings for entertainment. Circo Massimo is a vast green space where ruins are still standing to tell you how enjoyable those days were. Continue your way to Capitolini Musei. I think you need to take a break here and grab a bite of Italian pizza. The museum is free in Sundays, and it includes a stupendous collection of artful works.

Piazza Venezia is very close and there where you will see the power of the Eagles. The Monument of Vector Emanuel is still standing in honour of the first Italian King. You have to take the lift up to the last floor to enjoy a panoramic scene of Rome and its temples.

Now, you are almost done with your first circle. Back to the Colosseo, you will pass by the Collumn and the Market of Trajan as well as the Forums of Augusto. The area is really full of ruins and places that depict an image about that art and architecture that did distinguish ancient Rome from the remaining parts of the world.

Be ready for the next tour and the next spot to visit.
