Birds are warm-blooded animals with two legs. What makes them special is that they are the only animals that have feathers. Some of their feathers are short and fluffy and others are long and strong. Many of them are very colorful. Different types of birds live in different places and eat different foods. Some eagles live in the mountains and eat rabbits and mice. The toucan lives in the hot jungle and eats fruit. All birds have wings but not all birds can fly. The ostrich cannot fly but it can run very fast on its long, strong legs. A penguin uses its wings and paddle-like feet to swim. Some birds always live by the water , others live on land. Birds lay eggs and build nests to keep their eggs and chicks safe and warm. The parents feed the chicks until they are old enough to find their own food.
Toucan
The toucan lives high up in the tropical rain forest. It uses its long, strong beak to reach fruit at the end of branches.
Ostrich
The ostrich is the biggest bird in the world. It cannot fly but can run very fast on its strong, powerful legs. The father ostrich sits on 8-9 huge eggs until they hatch.
