Directed by Norwegian writer-director Joachim Trier, with his longtime screenwriter Eskil Vogt, they have discomfited audiences, jolted them and shocked them with this new movie "The worst person in the world", a sweet romantic movie about love and life of a young lady called Julie (played by Renate Reinsve), who is unsure about what she really wants to do with her life.

Thinking about the title of the movie, it surely apply to Julie herself, because she admittedly dumps two men in the movie, cheating one and lying to the other.

But like anyone in their 20s, she is terrified about the terrible irreversible choices she makes in life. we shouldn't see her as anything other than a vulnerable, flawed and human.

The tittle might applies to her second boyfriend called Aksel who is brilliant but haughty. Aksel is played by the Trier regular Anders Danielsen Lie.

Julie starts out hilariously not knowing what she really wants out of life. She is a medical student but she told her mum that she wants to change her course to psychology knowing that she founds the mind more interesting than the body, but after that she decides to go into photography. Her love life begins with a young handsome guy but after a while she starts snogging in the middle of a photo shoot and later leaves the guy at a party for Aksel

Later in her 20s, she noticed that Aksel is becoming more popular while she is still working in a ordinary bookshop, her photography career is now abandoned. Things get worse when she leaves Aksel’s latest launch party early and has an intense encounter with a guy called Eivind played by Herbert Nordrum, who also works in a shop.

There is a magical moment when Julie later have the courage and finally tell Aksel that she's leaving him, and she runs through the streets of Oslo to find Eivind, time frozen, the world is on pause, when she steal a moment with Eivind and kiss him romantically. This is a beautiful sensational scene. Another sensational scene is when she takes shrooms with Eivind and his friends, an absolute showstopper, in which Julie finally confronts her deadbeat estranged dad.

The worst person in the world is an interesting, gentle and funny movie, such that is undoubtedly conventional but also feels very real. It's is the type of movie that we all have seen done so badly that it is an unexpected treat to see it done well and for us to see that its themes are very important.

Reinsve’s performance is just so fantastic, she makes Julie formed, not damage or broken but someone going through life and taking it as it comes. After all, it seems being the worst isn't so bad in the end.
