Majalunggay: Innovative Dessert

Filipino loves to cook dessert especially when there's a fiesta, birthday and special holidays. Among the dessert prepared, maja blanca is one of the most known traditional Filipino dessert which is present at almost any celebration in today's generation.

INGREDIENTS :

• 1½ cup of water

• ¾ cornstarch

• ½ cup coconut milk

•½ tablespoon blended malunggay leaves

•¼ cup condense milk

•½ cup white sugar

• 3 tablespoon vanilla

•1 tablespoon corn kernel

PROCEDURE

1. Mix ½ cup of water with the cornstarch in a bowl and stir until smooth.

2. Combine ½ cup coconut milk, ½ cup blended malunggay leaves ,1 cup of water , ¼ cup condense milk and ½ cup white sugar in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add the vanilla and corn kernel after.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil and then stir in the cornstarch mixture, stirring quickly to avoid lumps as it becomes very thick. Simmer until fully thickened and smooth. Stir constantly, about 2 minutes.

4. Pour the maja blanca into the prepared tray and set aside to cool until firm, about 2 hours.
