Sooo... my boyfriend finally convinced me to wirte something down here. I hope you'll like it :)

I am an art history major and I literaly love every little thing about art history (maybe except for writng scientific papers since I still suck at that). Funnily, art history was my minor in my first semester. So what convinced me then to change it to my major?

The answer is quite easy: It was the first lecture I had at university about the basics of art history where the lecturer was lecturing in such a passionate way about the different epochs, buildings, art works, exhibitons and the course. He told us that studying is the greatest gift where we should be able to cherish everything we learn and see. We also got to read different literature for the entire lecture about different topics- like why there aren't as many women artists in the museums, how the Alte Museum in Berlin was built and how through x-ray scientists found out that Rembrant didn't paint most pictures by himself (his students painted them and he just signed his name so that they could be sold). That way he convinced me to change art history to my major. And this is a thing I never regret. It was the best decision I did for myself. Sadly, working while studying isn't easy for me, but I need the money to be able to continue my studies. in conclusion, I am kind of a bad student, lol.

But that isn't the only thing I love about art history. I love learning about new things everyday. Like why Jesus Babies are so ugly in medieval pictures and how the prejudice of artists having a mental illness (or at least that all artists are suffering) arised in the 20. century. The artists before that were paid quite well for their work and it was also considered a normal job - kinda like a graphic designer nowadays. I am also fascinated about how art plays an important role in every century - it is also still of importance today - when the world needs a medium to express itself by it uses art. Art reaches people all over the world - it has no language and everybody is able to understand it in a way or another (and yes, blind people could for example feel it or hear it - like music).

I will probably start posting every now and then about different artsits, art pieces and epochs, since I also see it as a good practice for writing papers. If you have any suggestions let me now - I will do my best at researching it :)
