Hi guys, here I am back after a week of vacation, a fantastic week !!
Today we will not talk about monsters, games or nails and twine today I'll tell you about my vacation with my better half ...
It was our first holiday together and we both left a little bit terrified but in the end it was a beautiful dream that unfortunately ended but leaving us with memories, emotions, colors, flavors and joy!
It was truly an unforgettable fairytale holiday that left us with incredible and exciting "memories". The goal was Conero, a place located in the Marche region of Italy, just over 300 kilometers from our home!
We went home with the desire to buy them home just to make you understand how much we liked this place.
We did not know what to expect and we came home with a we will be back for sure surrounded by sea and mountains every place was good for a "wow" amazing breathtaking views and lots and lots of sun, rooms and walks.
But enough with the hindsight premises I will tell you everything right away and here is our holiday at the Conero!
Day 1 (the Journey)
Saturday,
Wake up at 8 in the morning for the final preparations and a refreshing shower, the trip is three hours and the direction is Numana ...
our vacation starts here.
The first stop is at the bar to leave with a nice breakfast, cappuccino and doughnut for both ... the latest plans that, as usual, will skip to make room for chance and get back in the car for the 300 kilometres that divide us from the destination.
Arrived! Four hours by car with traffic at times but we finally took possession of our room.
The owner Barbara, very kind, made us feel immediately at home by offering us breakfast tickets to spend in a bar, discounts for various restaurants and as icing on the cake umbrella and sunbeds offered in the bathhouse of her sister Anna.
Ok let's empty our bags, I'm ready in five minutes, Sara I'm still waiting for her ... joking aside, half an hour and we are already on our way to the beach but first stop at the fish shop under the hotel that makes seafood burgers: salmon for Sara for me prawns!… all very good but running to the beach!… the view is divine the Conero mountain appears on our imposing left while straight to us and to the right the sea and the sky join the horizon.
I had not seen the sea for years, for various reasons I have never found the time for this show ... it is always a fantastic emotion to be in front of this blue expanse, the scent of salt, the sand under your feet, the breeze that caresses the skin and my little mermaid 🧜♀️ beside.
After this first afternoon spent between umbrella and sea, we opted for a jog that led us to explore the surroundings of Numana.
Among alleys, steps and ups and downs we found small suggestive and romantic views, a pity of not having taken the camera but with the promise that we would return to immortalize these wonders.
Running with the sea next to us instead of the countryside we are used to is a whole new emotion but even more, it was a surprise to meet other sportsmen who, smiling, greeted us like old friends.
Back at the hotel, we got ready for dinner, the restaurant chosen is just one of those recommended, the MOLLUSCO.
Before arriving at the restaurant, a small aperitif based on the spritz, beer and various snacks in one of the small bars in the area and immediately towards the MOLLUSCO.
The location is not that great but there is a wide choice of fish-based dishes on the menu. After having a feast of Paccheri with seafood and mixed fried food, we took a short walk around the town.
There are still many people around and in the square a small concert plays songs from the past, making the atmosphere cheerful.
Thus ends the first day, once the alarm is set at 7.30 in the morning, the lights go out to abandon us in the arms of Morpheus… with a smile on our face for the pleasant day ended.
Day 2 (Marcelli)
The alarm goes off at 8, it's Sunday and this day must be taken calmly, very calmly.
We use one of the cards that the lady of the hotel gave us to go to the bar for breakfast and plan the day.
Between two cappuccinos and two doughnuts, the choice becomes easy, today we lie on the beach to sunbathe and swim, nothing else !!
And so the day passes, a small break for a quick fish-based lunch in a rotisserie not far from the bathroom and then back to the beach and between chatting, napping, bathing the day flies and we decide ... indeed Sara decides it's time to a jog !!
5 kilometres to stretch your legs and go back to the hotel for a shower.
In the evening we decided to take a walk in Numana. Along the promenade, we stopped to enjoy a quick dinner in a pizzeria with a wood oven, delicious pizza.
We continue to Numana where street artists perform in the various squares of the town, views of the landscape and small enchanting corners full of history leave us speechless.
Thus ends the second day, we return to the hotel and wake up at 6 am with the intention of going to the beach to admire the sunrise.
Day 3 (Sirolo)
The alarm goes off at 6 - what a coma! - but the thing has to be done, the sunrise over the sea must be a unique spectacle and so it was!
Seeing this fire-coloured ball appear on the horizon and grow larger until it detaches from the water is priceless! …Marvelous!
The time to take some pictures and go back to your room for an extra nap, the alarm clock at six is really devastating 🤣, especially on vacation!
Let's start again ... wake up at 8.30 we get ready and go to the bar to have breakfast, two doughnuts and two cappuccinos as usual, and in the meantime, we plan the day ... today destination Sirolo ... to the black beach.
In a small shop, one of those who take you out from behind the salami and fruit counter but would also be able to give you some nails, we buy fruit and some sandwiches, ready to leave for today's trip.
Marcelli - Sirolo it's about 5 km away. We take the car and go, a bit difficult to find a parking space but this too went and we set off along a dirt road, downhill, surrounded by a forest.
After the last bend, a world opens up, the expanse of the sea is a very long strip of beach, on the right you can't see the end and on the left, it is bordered by Mount Conero ... a show that hypnotizes us for a few minutes almost in apnea.
We camp on the beach near the sea and near a large log planted on the beach that Sara and her engineering degree transform into a half-tent similar to that of the Indians to look for some shade that, in this place just doesn't exist.
Crystal clear sea, perfect weather makes us spend hours of true relaxation in what could be described as a corner of paradise.
The sunsets behind us behind the mountain and around 4 pm the beach is completely in the shade, so we decide to go and visit the town and have an ice cream 🤣.
The town seems to have remained in the eighties with that vintage charm and here and there there are glimpses that leave the view open to the panorama. The town is very nice and almost makes you want to take home in these places, corners of history, landscapes, small coloured streets that smell of life, of tranquillity, they taste of vacation.
We return to the hotel in the evening to get ready to go out for dinner. Tomorrow will be the 14th, the anniversary of "we" between me and Sara and for the occasion we have chosen a chic little restaurant where to spend the evening "La Ginestra in Fiore". The restaurant is right on Mount Conero, elegant and romantic, even here the view is incredible, the lights around create a truly suggestive setting, it is impossible to get used to these views that leave you speechless!
Needless to say, the dinner was perfect, new flavours, creative and artistic dishes, unusual combinations that made the evening unforgettable and brought us to bed with a smile.
Day 4 (Marcelli - Porto Recanati)
Today the alarm clock did a couple, maybe a few more, of "postpone" before waking up completely ... it felt so good in bed that it was tiring to get up, as they say, here "the less you do, the less you would do".
In the end, we lifted our butts and went to the usual place to have the usual ritual breakfast.
Today we looked at each other and it was like reading our minds, we decided to spread ourselves in the sun on the beach and not plan anything else, also because the day is beautiful and the sea is a flat and clear table as it has never been until today. , at least so rumoured the habitués close to the beach umbrella, and calm reigns on the beach due to the many departures at the end of the holiday. A perfect mix to make the beach a paradise.
We spend the day sunbathing, bathing in the sea, playing who does more "jumps with the stones" by throwing them on the water (Sara won) and talking, alternating with cuddles and kisses and a break around 13 for a salad lunch for Sara and a special hamburger with fries for me 😋
Back at the hotel in the evening, we decide to take a tour of Porto Recanati, unfortunately, a technical problem at my feet makes the little trip a bit painful but thanks to the care of my sweetheart everything is limited.
Arriving on the spot we immediately realize that Porto Recanati is a country made of colour: the houses, the streets, the club's sparkle with bright and decisive pastel colours, making this place cheerful and full of life ... we set out on the long promenade along the sea (12 km) that we do not see the end but the end at a certain point we put it because hunger advances and we decide to return to Marcelli and go to the restaurant "BraCiami".
Here you don't eat fish but all meat-based which here in the Marche is as delicious as fish.
Struggling with the menu and stomach bites we were about to order everything, luckily the judgment prevailed and after a mixed appetizer of local cold cuts and cheeses and two cuts with grilled vegetables, we return to our hotel with a full stomach, where another wonderful day ... excited, satisfied and more and more in love, we abandon each other in the arms of the other to leave room for dreams.
Day 5 (Marcelli - Numana)
What do we do today? Ah ... before thinking about anything you need a breakfast ... the usual ritual that we call it usual but it has indescribable importance 🤣.
Here we arrive at the usual two doughnuts and the two cappuccinos ... and while we delight the taste buds we immediately realize the spectacular day that is about to begin.
The sun is already high, or almost, the day is clear, the sea is completely flat ... here the season is over and the people are few, peace reigns absolute and we cannot miss this show, so we decide to spend the day on the beach.
Between swimming in the sea and sunbathing, the day passes quickly and in the afternoon there are some clouds .. damn !!
In the middle of the afternoon, then we retrieve our stuff and head to Numana both to have dinner and to look at the view with a little light despite the sky being totally covered.
There are no words, there are no comparisons to describe what we have in front of this panorama that stretches for kilometres that perhaps, in the end, a little farther than the horizon remains the space only for dreams.
When night falls we decide to have dinner at the "Galeone" restaurant in the heart of the city of Numana and alas !!! Something unpleasant had to happen, fortunately, nothing so serious, or the restaurant chose turned out to be not exactly good, both for the welcome, it seemed to bother us, and for the quality ... but it went well, even so, it was us anyway.
We go back to our hotel, a little break for ice cream, and then we go back to our room to hug each other in bed and give space to dreams.
Day 6 (Frasassi Caves)
The day starts as it ended yesterday, clouds on the horizon, even worse, I rectify it, it really rains!
The scheduled boat trip jumps and is postponed until tomorrow, so what do you do today? Let's start with a classic, breakfast!
While there we taste it, we think about what to do today and the choice falls on the Frasassi Caves just an hour away by car.
Arrived on site, green pass, tickets and run on the shuttle that takes you to the cave ...
I will not pause to describe the show seen inside because the uniqueness of the place deserves a story of its own.
The guided tour lasts a couple of hours during which we discover five "rooms" inside the cave, each with its own particular and surprising conformity.
We leave the cave happy to return to the sultry twenty-seven degrees outside, having passed the tour at a constant 14 degrees.
The ups and downs made us a little hungry, we move to Castelfidardo, the city of the accordion, to have lunch at Pippo's, tagliatelle with wild boar and Arrosticini appease our stomachs and we are already on our way to a new destination.
Here, on Mount Cucco, there is one of the most important monuments to the homeland.
A long staircase takes us to the monumental complex dedicated to the "Vittoriosi di Castelfidardo", an imposing bronze sculpture six meters high and twelve wide, representing a leader on horseback placed on the same level as his soldiers.
After the cultural interlude and a few photos, we take the car back to the “La Calcinara” winery to buy a few bottles of good wine (discovered a few nights earlier at Ginestra in Fiore).
It was 5 pm the sky opened slightly and then immediately on the beach for a little relaxation and to tell you about our day.
Day 7 (last day)
Wake up at seven and immediately get up to have the usual breakfast and run to the boat to take the tour of the Conero coasts especially to see the famous beach of the Two Sisters, two immense rocks that emerge from the water at the foot of Mount Conero, but the disappointment comes after a little more than fifteen minutes from the alarm.
Because of the storm that took place last night, the boats decided not to set sail ... infinite sadness that rises inside us.
Sara and I do not lose heart, leaving here without having seen "the two sisters" is like not having been there so the map in hand we find the path in the woods of Mount Conero that leads to the "path of the wolf" ... and from there the two sisters are visible, distant but visible.
We arm ourselves with sneakers, the walk is not long and not even that complicated, within half an hour we are at the path and there they are imposing at the foot of the mountain, the "two sisters !!" The view, needless to say, is fabulous from a dream, we take some photos and decide to spend a few minutes there with the forest behind us and the sea with its breathtaking view in front of us.
It's the last day the sun starts to rise so we get back on the road and decide to go to Portonovo for the last hours on the beach.
In these places it seems that you cannot go wrong, any place is a charm and even in this cove reached the "wow" is immediately marked by our mouths.
We spend a couple of hours relaxing and while the sky is covered with clouds, it's time to go home to our city!
Here ends our holiday on the Conero Riviera, a holiday that we will never forget made up of a thousand emotions, a thousand flavours, a thousand colours and unforgettable views.
Sara and I also got to know each other better as people, it was our first vacation together and it was fabulous, at least for me for her I will be able to tell you in the coming days haha !!
I hope you want to come to these places from my story and my photos, I hope I have done it justice because it is truly a fantastic place that absolutely deserves to be visited and experienced!
See you next vacation!
The photos are taken by the author of his property.
