Stress. What is stress? What triggers stress?

In my experience, stress kicks in when:

  • I am worrying about something important.

  • I do not have control of the situation like a sudden change of schedule.

  • I am on a tight budget.

Why do we get stressed over something?

In reality, everyone experiences stress at some point of our life. We feel sad, worried, confused, angry, scared or overwhelmed. Stress is a normal human reaction. It is just that, we respond to stress differently.

We cannot avoid stress, but we can cope with it. We can reduce the feelings of stress. There are effective ways to manage stress and keep it at bay.

Listed below are helpful ways in fighting the feelings of stress:

  • HAVE A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP.

    • Quality sleep keeps your mind and body healthy. Better sleep equals better mood. Because you woke up feeling rested, your energy level is high that you do not get annoyed easily.

  • TURN ON YOUR PLAYLIST.

    • Listening to a relaxing music can improve your mood. Music can make you calm and ease away your anxiety.

  • EAT RIGHT. DRINK WELL.

    • There is a phrase "You are what you eat." This means that in order to be fit, we need to consume good and healthy foods. Eating a balanced meal, fruits, vegetables and 8-glasses of water is a great way to manage stress.

  • KEEP A POSITIVE OUTLOOK.

    • Optimism brings a positive vibe and may help offset difficult circumstances. Smile even if you do not feel like it. Put on a happy face. As the saying goes, "Fake it until you make it."

  • EXERCISE.

    • Physical activity improves our mood and helps us think clearly. It brings a positive effect on our mood by easing the tension, anxiety and other negative feelings brought by stress. It boosts our energy as well as stamina.

  • PRAY.

    • In Him, we can find peace. Cast your anxieties through prayer. Take a few moments uttering a prayer for guidance and strength.

  • LAUGH IT OFF.

    • Do the laughing tricks. Do not take life too seriously. Live. Laugh. Love. Enjoy.
