Our neighbor gave me this fruit as he just came from the province. I used to eat this type of fruit when I was a kid because it grows almost everywhere in our place. Most people don’t give importance to this type of fruit because maybe they think this doesn’t have health benefits. I gave this to my kids to let them know what it tastes like. This was the first time they saw a live star fruit (Carambola), Balimbing in tagalong, and Bereran in our native language. I was hoping they would like the taste of a ripe star fruit but they don’t. Well of course they grew up in Metro Manila and not used to see or eat fruits like this that can only be found abundant in provinces.
