Money Is All Based On Ownership

Most of us have the auto response habit of helping other people without questions.

Consider this scenario.

You are sitting inside a public establishment waiting for something. Four persons came almost simultaneously. They can be identified as an elderly, disabled person (with crutches), a mother with an infant and a pregnant woman. Who would you offer your seat?

I studied college at the University that was about 40 KM away from our home. The usual mode of transportation was by means of a bus ride. It was cheaper for students who are commuting to the large city every day. So I have witnessed all types of scenarios inside a public utility bus for four years.

One very common scenario was the act of kindness of a passenger offering a seat to a person that needs to be seated when the bus is full. Then the person would remain standing instead up to his destination. This is normally done by male passengers who would want to show as being gentlemen. Although there are also females doing this act of kindness, it is less observed.

There were some passengers who for some reason would not offer his seat even if the person standing beside him is elderly. He would sometimes pretend to sleep or just ignore the situation.

In the scenario above, it is pretty difficult to decide as to who should be sitting. They all need to sit and need not have to be standing for a long time.

For some reason that they all need to wait in line for an hour or two I think the person with crutches can take the seat. The old man, pregnant woman and the woman carrying an infant can sit on the floor.

Let’s try to look at things in a different way. If there is one chair and the four characters mentioned are waiting to occupy the chair, who do you think deserves to sit on that chair?

If one of them owns the chair he could be the one to claim the seat. But if no one owns it, the first one to sit in owns the chair.

Capitalism

It’s more about ownership – A property. People have programmed their mind to believe that having things is far greater than not having things. Often most people who have things to survive lived longer.

So the principle of who needed something for wanting to put things to be morally upright is neglected. So it doesn’t matter if a cripple or lame needs the chair because the owner of the chair is an emperor.

However, needs can sometimes be a lie. People can fake needs and some people fake disabilities for their own advantage. A lazy person can fake disabilities and I myself have witnessed such. Even being pregnant sometimes can be a fake.

No one wants to be poor, but being poor doesn’t mean not owning a thing. It’s not bad also if we want what we need. After all, we all want to survive and should have the basic needs like food, shelter and clothing.

Going back to the scenario, who do you think needs the chair? Is it the elderly, the disabled person, the mother carrying an infant or the pregnant woman?

We live life with our necessities, possessions and assets. It doesn’t matter if it is the basic needs of our luxurious desires. But these needs if taken too much can be greed. However if your greed drives you to be productive and achievements, I think there is nothing wrong with that.

If there is no ownership, no one has the right to say who gets to use the chair or anything. I guess we just hope that those people who own the things we need are generous enough to lend or even give it to us when we need it.

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

Yes sir. If that scenario, I hope people must be considerate, understand and generous to lend the chair to the most person who needed that that chair. We should helping each other.

I encountered once, when I was heading at home that time then I ride a bus. There were a lot of people standing that time, at the middle I saw a grandma standing at the bus then beside her was a man who has a masculine body but he didn't offer his seat to the grandma. I felt pity to her. I don't know about that man what's in his mind.
