Another day had passed. The next day is a brand new day.

The earth is like a huge switch that turns on and off to make day and night happen, making a whole day cycle then repeats thereafter.

Every day we met people. Different people from our home through our work we met those people. Friends, officemates and strangers are those we meet every day. Often when we meet them we communicate by starting a greeting.

Hi, Hello, How are you, are just simple greetings we do to a person be it our family, friend, neighbor or colleague. These greetings become our habit, a habit that adds to our day to blend in every group.

Even animals and insects have their own way of greeting their own kind. My dog, for example, always greets me every time I come home from the office or even the moment I go out of bed every morning. She would go near me and stand with his two legs while the two front paws up waiting for a hug. Sometimes she would just poke my legs with her nose. She would do this when she felt like I didn’t notice her the whole day.

Often this greeting is followed by a chit-chat of what is going on about work, life or some trending stuff in social media. Then went on for whatever things that will make us busy the whole day.

Greetings are powerful to start a conversation. It is like an ice breaker. There is no rule for using those greetings to communicate with other people. It is with every person to show politeness and kindness by using those words.

If an unfamiliar person approaches you and starts with the simple hi or hello, for sure you are at ease in responding to the person. Nothing can prevent us from greeting a person, starting a conversation or cheering up a friend. Even the pandemic cannot hinder us from greeting our friends and loved ones near or far.

However saying hi or hello to someone without receiving a response can be awkward. But you should not react as if you are being offended. We never know what the person is going through. For some reason that he did not respond to you, he will realize it somehow.

It is a good feeling when someone says hi, hello or good morning to you even if you don’t know him personally. You should respond of course with a smile.

Even deaf and mute can show their own way of greeting someone. We may have limitations but we are all human. Just like animals that can feel pain, anger, excitement and can respond to a greeting.

Hi, how have you been?

It always makes everyone happy, when greeting is responded. What I don't like when they ask me how I am and they don't even care.
