There is a magical feeling about swimming, the weightlessness, feeling refreshed and of course, the athletic pursuit of racing to the waterfall or opposite side of the creek.

North Queensland is known for having some of the best natural swimming holes to dive into, so grab a towel and get your swimmers ready because we are heading off the beaten path to discover this little gem.

Before we take off on this adventure we stopped in at Churches Disposals for a few supplies, they have everything you need for hiking, camping and general survival equipment and it’s great that their preferred currency is Bitcoin Cash.

Little Crystal Creek is situated in the Paluma Range National Park it is considered the southern gateway for the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and is only a short 61km drive from Bitcoin Cash City.

The first Australians from the area call it Munan Gumburu which translates to ‘misty mountain’ which aptly describes Mount Spec as it towers 1000m above the Crystal Creek floodplain.

Once you turn off the highway the vegetation starts to change and one can notice the temperature difference as you ascend up the windy road towards the swimming hole.

The first thing to hit you when you open the car door is the smell of the trees, native Australian bushland. Once you take a moment you realise that the relaxing atmosphere is enhanced by the sounds of birds and the hot afternoon makes the idea of splashing around underneath a waterfall even more enticing.

After a short walk from the carpark you can find the mountain water cascades under a picturesque heritage-listed stone arch bridge built in the 1930s depression. This bridge and swimming hole is a popular place amongst the Bitcoin Cash City locals on the weekend.

Just above the bridge are some very spectacular waterfalls. It's also can claim to be the most popular place in Little Crystal Creek and for good reasons. It’s a perfect place to escape the summer heat by having a quick dip in refreshingly cool water and listen to the running water drop off the edge into the freshwater pool below.

The rain forest has a good canopy so the vegetation isn't too dense to impede ones access to the other waterholes and the waterfalls. Watch the rocks, it’s easy to slip and do yourself some damage while you hike up to the waterfalls.

There are so many amazing waterfalls and swimming holes that surround Bitcoin Cash City in North Queensland and we will be taking more time out from our adoption mission to go and see them all, yes all of them! So please stay tuned to this series that will continue to highlight the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Bitcoin Cash City.
