Where did my Childhood Heroes go?

I was just sitting there at my desk minding my own business and there it was...
That disturbing sound.
That sound that re-railed my whole train of thought.

Do my tears of mourning sink beneath the sun?

That sounds brings back memories, probably my favorite Madonna song ever.

Madonna, one of the big three for kids growing up in the '80s & '90s.

The big three and you could only have one favorite, so for girls, it was pretty easy Madonna was your heroine. And of course, she produced some great songs in her early days

But I liked her best as Evita!

This song was not in the original Evita, but was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, for the 1996 film adaptation of the musical, Evita. It was the only song added to the original musical just for Madonna.

Now Evita was not her own album, hence another one needs to be the best Madonna album ever. For me it was Ray of Light and if you don´t agree you have to admit at least that it´s her "most adventurous" record.

As a boy, you had a little more choice you liked Michael or Michael.

Let´s start with Michael. Mr. Jackson, of course, kicked off as a kid and but as a kid, we did not care that much for Ben...we were looking for a thriller.

Now the choice between Michael & Michael is not as black & white as you might think because during the Thriller days the rivalry was not huge but come BAD, come who´s the Biggest.

The fight didn´t get as Dirty as Diana but it was the biggest musical battle of the eighties.

Who won that battle, George Michael was out selling Michael Jackson in the US during this year but Jackson sold a lot worldwide. Jackson has 5 no.1s hits while George has 4 no.1s and a no.2 as well.

World Wide Bad sold 35 million copies while Faith has sold around over 25 million copies worldwide. So it´s very clear who won the battle, but that doesn´t mean that Jackson was everybody's favorite. The Boy wasn't mine if it comes to favorite I was bad, but I gotta have Faith, Faith, Faith.

Yes, maybe I was Bias as I was a Wham Bam I am your man, kind of boy. We had the freedom to choose and I chose George over Michael.

Looking back I wonder why I liked George more, but it´s a fact and maybe this is why. That Listen without Prejudice Album was such an eye opener

Or maybe it was how he stepped up when Freddy stepped down.

I ended up looking back at the days of my life and notice that the lives of both George and Michael have ended early.
Michael overdosed and George his death was a combination of a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a fatty liver. The corner called it "natural cause", but it could have been caused by a weak heart and alcoholism.

But both heroes were gone way too soon if you ask me.

Both did not grow old and wise.....and neither did Madonna she only grew old and weird.

But she is still on top of the game, and therefore I do have to admit that The Queen of Pop surpassed the King of Pop & The Queer of Pop.

And I have at least one childhood heroine left, or what´s left of her.

A hero dressed in Purple. Well as you could read, I said part of the Big Three and even though I agree that our purple hero definitely is in the same league as the big three, you can´t call the Minneapolis Midget part of the Big Three, can you?

Prince was probably the biggest of them all, but he chose to avoid the spotlight a bit more causing him not to be part of the Big Three. It didn´t help him a lot as also Prince was not able to withstand the impact of fame & Fentanyl on a mere human body.

That does make one wonder why Madonna did not succumb.
