Floor´s On Fire Part 2 - How a horrible thing triggered a beautiful gift
There are two ladies in music I truly can´t get enough of.
Tori Amos is my #1 and my runner-up can never catch up with her, for two simple reasons.
The main reason: Tori Plays the Piano, there is nothing more pleasing to my eyes and ears than a pretty girl playing the piano.
The second point is probably very guyish, Tori is just more my type than Floor. But tonight it´s all about the music and mainly about Floor.
That is why I previously released:
Midnight Gems Special - "Floor´s on Fire "
Because Floor has something else going for her, she is Dutch and I was able to see her live way more often than I did Tori.
I saw Tori twice and Floor ehh 4 times at least the ones I remember. Of course, the fact that Floor played symphonic metal also helped. I saw Floor mainly at festivals both with After Forever and with Nightwish also once in a real concert in my Hometown of Tilburg, she played the same stage as I did. She was been amazing from the start, from back when she was a little Floortje,
So this was the first time I saw Tori in ´98
Yes that is me, second row from the stage, yes the guy with that dreamy look in his eyes.
Now there are no video´s from the first time I saw After Forever, Floors first band. But it was Lowlands 2001 and somehow I do not recall much of that festival. But I do recall Floor, The Prodigy, S.O.A.D. and Manu Chao.
There are videos from the last time I saw After Forever, just as an impression as the sound seems to come from a 2007 mobile phone and some of you might remember how great the capture quality was back then.
But that is all in the past and I would like to fast forward to last week..... I heard the news.....
I am not gonna build up the tension, as I had to wait a week to hear that all went well. But Floor announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer I had to let that sink in.
No artist lives forever, but so many great ones have left the stage already.
Still, sometimes amazing things are born out of misery
That was what happened because on the same day Floor let us know that she was doing well and recovering it was decided to release this amazing show for us all to enjoy.
The show was released to support Floor in her fight against breast cancer.
It features Floors full solo show recorded on September 3, 2021. She played a sold-out AFAS Live, in Amsterdam. She performs songs from her entire career, spanning After Forever, Revamp, Northward & Nightwish and the songs she performed at the Dutch TV Show, Beste Zangers.
Please bookmark this video for a cold winter night on which you can use some great music and positivity.
I have listened to this show multiple times already and if Floor ever needs to leave the building this is just a perfect way to remember her.
Remember this Icon that came from nothing and ended up being the lead singer of the biggest Symphonic Metal band ever. A lady so strong both in voice as in personality.
A little Encore just in case you can't get enough Floor
And a small secret, a secret sister that can sing and this is what you get when you get both Jansens on stage together with Ayreon Arjen!
Floor Made An Impression That Lasts Till After Forever!
