Bitcoin Cash Upgrade: 15 November 2020
The Bitcoin Unlimited organization is announcing its latest release of BCH Unlimited, version 1.9.0.0. The BU developers are continuing to deliver advanced functionality to users of our software, to its many Bitcoin Cash full node owners and operators.
15 November 2020 BCH upgrade
The important protocol change to go live in November 2020 is a replacement DAA (ASERTi3) for a kludge (cw-144) which fixed a temporary hack (EDA). The coding and testing of ASERT is a collaborative result of work by members from several Bitcoin Cash development teams. The beneficial effect on block frequency from this change will be appreciated by miners and users alike.
To be clear, the BU developers have not implemented the 8% IFP tax. This feature is highly destructive to the elegant incentive system which has underpinned Bitcoin for over 11 years.
BCH Unlimited 1.9 features
There are significant features and many smaller improvements added since BCH Unlimited 1.8. Most notably, the following:
Double spend proofs
Improved code parallelism
ElectrsCash 2.0.0 server capability
Xversion P2P message upgrade
Libbitcoincash extensions
Benchmark and QA improvements
We take the opportunity to thank all our contributors for their hard work and expertise.
Looking ahead into 2021
The Bitcoin Unlimited team welcomes a new collegiate development atmosphere with BCH Node, bchd, Knuth, Flowee, Bitcoin Verde, the SPV wallet developers, and any non-IFP phoenix which can rise from the ashes of ABC. This will be a fresh start for all ready and willing to advance the Bitcoin Cash network in a major way in 2021. The BU developers look forward to a debate about refreshing and rebooting the tired and simplistic roadmap put together in November 2017. Evidence is abundant that the most successful cryptocurrency cannot be simply sound money alone. The modern world’s financial system is demanding advanced tokens, smart contracts, decentralised finance (DeFi) and programmable money which leverages the trustless layer of blockchain technology.
There needs to be an open and honest community debate about where Bitcoin cash should be headed. The community can look forward to a much more productive environment after the November upgrade, where the cloud of toxicity has been blown away beyond the blue horizon. We will have development groups all willing and ready to listen to the community. Groups who can finally work together delivering for the ecosystem, racing to make up for the lost three years. It is time to stand up. Time to look forward.
Time to upgrade!
