Reincarnation

Reincarnation maybe referred to as transmigration or metapsychosis, on the grounds of religion and philosophy.

A rebirth of mental capacity, such as a soul, in a physical life form, such as a body. To reborn in a different body or as a different specie. The rebirth of a soul in a different body.

The believe in reincarnation are mostly found in East and South Asian traditions, some of their religions that believe in reincarnation are: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, and these four religions can be traced back to India. What the all have in common is the doctrine of Karma, which states that what one does in this life will have its effect in the next life, it's know as the law of cause and effect.

Reincarnation is also believed by some in the traditional African society and one of them are the Yorubas. This belief is well established in the traditional Yoruba society.

Reincarnation is believed to occur in three different ways, according to the Yorubas which are: Ipadawaye (ancestor's rebirth), akudaaye (die and reappear) and abiku (born to die).

Abiku is the most dreaded way of them all. This is depicted in two highly rated poems written by John Pepper Clark and Wole Soyinka, both titled 'Abiku'.

As the name implies (born to die) in this form of reincarnation, the soul just picks up another body after death and continues living but most of them may or may not have any knowledge of their previous life.

Just think of a baby that is just born to die and the circle continues. At times it may be with a particular mother, other times different mothers.

My question to you all is, do you believe in reincarnation?
