Main Problems Associated With Agriculture In pakistan And Their solution

INTRODUCTION :

As we know pakistan is a agriculture land. A large amount of agriculture land in pakistan is present in punjab [ province of pakistan ]. In pakistan about 62% of population belongs to rural areas nd is directly or indirectly linked with agriculture. About 47% of land in pakistan is fertile and is used for agriculture. So, their are many problem releated to agriculture and some of them are already solved.

The important problems that our agriculture sector is facing now a days are given below :

1- Lack of agriculture inputs :

Our farmers in agriculuture sector is lagging behind. His financial situation is very bad. The man who provide food for others does not have two meals a day. Good fertilizer, pesticides , tractors and modern water sources is a very difficult task for the average farmers.

2- Inefficient use of cultivable areas :

There is no plan to use million of acres of lands in pakistan. Insuffiient capital and irraigation due to the facilities, very little of the cultivable areas is used. Every year a large part of the land is left vacant to maintain the fertility of the land.

3- Naturat disasters :

Natural disasters such as floods, storms and droughts in the country are also a source of concern for farmers. From these all crops are very badly affected.

4- Inadequate irrigation facilities :

Despite pakistans canal system , our sources of irrigation are inadequate. Water is lost im skins and field. Much of the river water is lost to the sea and there is no significant storage facility. Excessive power load shedding makes it difficult to get water from tube wells, which effects crops.

5- Lack of modernized cultivation :

In our country, the use of private, chemical fertilizers and agricultural machinery is less.On aggriculture lands very little attention is paid to cultivating more and more crops.

6- Lack of agriculture credit :

Due to lack of aggricultural lending istitutions, farmers usually take money from the middlenen and moneylanders whose intrests rate are very high. They exploit the farmers which worries the farmers.

7- Water logging and salinity :

Much of our arable land is no longer cultivable because of yum and thor. In addition, a lot of land is cut every year.Haunting is taking place, which reduces the fertile soil.

8- Lack of efficient means of transportation :

It is very difficult to get aggricultural commodities from markets im our country due to undeveloped means of transportation. Due to lack of access to markets for farmers, middlemen are not getting adequate incom which is affecting their fianancial situatiom.

9- Plant disease :

Crop disease weakens or weakens plants. According to an estimated, this is due to 25% in pakistan and yield dereases .

10- Backwardness of farmers :

Literacy is a major cause of backwardness of farmers . On this basis, they can learn modern farming methods and also learn plan for better production.

11- Prices of aggricultural good :

Prices of aggricultural products are much lower than industrial goods in pakistan. Farmers jobs and business other than farming are preffered by farmers which is affecting aggriculture.

SOLLUTION OF AGGRICULTURAL PROBLEM

The following steps can be taken to solve the aggricultural problem :

1-

farmers should be given loans for modern method of farming , waste and use of these loans for aggricultural development should be monitored and published in the national expenditure of loans.

2-

Rainwater harvesting should be done to supply water to crops to control floods. It will increase production.

3-

Where canal water is not available tube wells and so on should be encourged to jump. For tube wells free or on very low cost eletricity should be provided.

4-

A major obstacle to pakistans economic development is cam worth. Lomg term planning is needed to controll the disease so that the cultivable area will not damaged. Plant as many tree to prevent the erossion.

5-

Arable land should be used to the fullset. make barren and desolate lands cultivabl.

6-

Simple and better legislation should be enacted for provocation of lands to protect the farmers from the damages of land

7-

Take precaution measures against floods and other sudden calamites.

8-

Farmers should be encouraged by the high prices of aggricultural commodities. Provide free advice and basic necessities to farmers to promote agro-based industries. these industries should be set up near the respective areas.
