Egypt has always managed to capture the attention of both locals and tourists and this time will be no exception. Surely you have wondered if the pyramids of Egypt have something special inside or are completely empty and the answer to this great doubt is that there is definitely a pyramid that has objects and a really interesting history, which is open to the public. Making it even more exciting!
The Red Pyramid is a great tourist attraction not to be missed. Named for its pink limestone and located in Dahshur, it is the third largest pyramid in Egypt and one of the few whose interior can be seen by the public, as some of them have nothing inside.
The history makes us imagine a little about what happened regarding a place, therefore, this great pyramid was built by the pharaoh Seneferu in 2.575-2.551 B.C, he was the father of Cheops. Inside the pyramid you can see some of the paintings on the walls that reveal that the construction took 10 years and 7 months to be completely erected. Without leaving aside that it is the second pyramid built by the pharaoh.
It is very important to note that the pyramid was profanda several times in ancient times in the hope of finding inside a trace of treasure or something belonging to the pharaoh as a sarcophagus, but unfortunately in none of the rooms was found something. However, in a chamber were found some mummified human remains that were attributed to Snofru, but there are no conclusive studies to prove it.
In the interior of the Red Pyramid there are 3 chambers with overhanging ceilings and large paintings of the XIX century. They are placed in series and are accessed through a long corridor, crossing the inner core of the pyramid from the entrance on the north side with a height of about 62 meters, because this pyramid has a height of 102 meters and an angle of 43 degrees.
The first room has a rectangular base of 8x3 meters in a false vault ceiling of 12 meters high. Then there is the second chamber of identical dimensions, but with the difference that it is displaced to the west with respect to the previous chamber. However, this means that this chamber is located below the central axis of the pyramid. Finally, there is the third chamber, which can be accessed from the top of the second chamber oriented from east to west.
I must point out that one of the most important findings was the Pyramidion, being a stone that was placed at the apex of the pyramid, which was fractured into several pieces, but could be reconstructed. This was made of a single piece of limestone from Tura, having a height of 1.57 meters base and is the only one known from the ancient empire.
As I mentioned before, the Egyptian history is completely interesting, so it raised my curiosity about these pyramids and their interior, which I found fascinating. What a wonderful history!
