Mole badgers are famous for the popular animated series the Avatar that has conquered the whole world for many years with this cool chapter, in which appears a cave built by badgers, but being at the same time a labyrinth. However, in Brazil a similar cave was found that seems to have been built by giant sloths and is very similar to the one in the series, which is why it has become very popular.

A Brazilian professor was the one who noticed the existence of a strange hole in front of a construction site while driving through the place. When he entered this strange place he noticed that there were prehistoric sloth claw marks on the ceiling of the cave. In addition, the tunnels measure some 2,000 meters or more.

It is important to note that after what happened the professor created the Paleotacas project, with the aim of documenting as many tunnels as possible and, in turn, raise awareness about the conservation of the tunnels.

My Modern Met

The real relationship of this newly found place with the animated series, is that Toph, one of the heroines of the series, explains what was the origin of the Earth Control (the ability to control the earth with the mind) when she was in some caves. According to her, it all started with the badgers or mole badgers, that is, the mole badgers that live under the earth were the first earthbenders and taught humans the same art.

I must admit that since I was very little I have been a fan of this great series and this great episode is one of my favorites, and to know that there is a similar place that still has a lot to tell is awesome. Nature and history surprised me once again, making me believe that everything is possible.
