On the outskirts of Kyoto in Japan, you can find a bamboo forest, which is a natural, aesthetic, quiet and exotic landscape, being a fascinating place of Japanese culture.
In this place there are hiking trails providing an incredible and picturesque view of the giant green grasses and lush canopy. It is also no wonder that this bamboo has inspired many people such as Japanese craftsmen for centuries. For, in the surroundings of this forest you can find several workshops that manufacture bamboo baskets, vases and various resources typical in Japanese life.
It is very important to highlight that bamboo is very resistant and durable, in fact, there are some researches that affirm that it has a higher tensile strength than many steel alloys, which is a higher compressive strength than different concretes, and, what is more incredible, it is not digestible by termites.
Bamboo itself has a series of knots and its fibers give it unparalleled strength and flexibility. In fact, there are houses made of bamboo that have been able to resist strong earthquakes. However, it should be noted that it is a renewable resource, which is why it has the characteristic of being the fastest growing plant in the world, because one of its species can grow up to 1.20 meters in a period of 24 hours, as well as regenerate completely within 6 months.
I should point out that bamboo can be harvested every 3 years and this will not have any adverse effect on the environment and also the health of the plant is getting better and better.
Personally it is a very beautiful place, the bamboo forest seems to be taken out of a fairy tale, being able to inspire and transmit peace to the visitors, which is considered as majestic. I hope to visit that bamboo forest someday!
