A symbolic castle where great stories abound in this place, being part of one of the most popular places that has a great country like Japan. Once again it has surprised us, because the history of what happened here can easily attract attention. Not to mention that it is called as the heart of Osaka.
I have always mentioned that every place has its own history and this will be no exception, because this great castle was built in the second half of the 16th century and was home to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the men behind the unification of Japan under one ruler during the Sengoku period. For this reason, it became the pride and symbolic place of the country, although it took 16 years to complete its construction. However, it burned down when the Toyotomi family lost their governorship, so the stone walls and watchtower can be seen today in a restored, renovated version that happened sometime during the Edo period.
It is important to note that this site consists of 8 floors, which have an exhibition area from the entrance to the seventh floor. Here, you can find many of the artifacts and documents dating from the period when the castle was erected, as well as when the founder Toyotomi Hideyoshi, lived and ruled. Not to mention that you can also view the restoration model along with armor, helmets, swords and miniature dolls recreate the battlefield of those times.
On the top floor there is an observation deck 50 meters high where you can admire the entire castle as well as the city of Osaka at a glance. On the other hand, every day after the sun has set, visitors can delight in the glowing white illuminating tenshukaku up close. Although this place has a mysterious atmosphere, as it envelops the gates, tower and other areas of the castle as well, which happens when the light hits them indirectly, thus having an extraordinary perspective.
There is an area surrounding the Osaka Castle that also has a lot to tell about the vast and rich Japanese history, being the Osaka History Museum, because it also tells a little about the castle and the city in general.
This castle with its name can easily attract attention and I have to admit that it happened with me, since, it raised in me the interest about its history, artifacts and so on. I hope to visit Osaka castle someday!
