What is static electricity and what causes it?

Most people think of electricity as something that is produced in hydropower plants. He is in everything. Everything around us consists of atoms - from clouds, through trees, to people. Each atom has a nucleus of positively charged protons and neutral neutrons (the only exception is hydrogen, the simplest type of atom, which has no neutrons). Negatively charged electrons surround the nucleus. Positive and negative charges are attracted, so electrons orbit the nucleus. Protons and electrons are attracted due to electromagnetic force. Therefore, there is electricity everywhere, wherever we look, it is just hidden in atoms. Electricity is always in us and around us.

It often happens that you feel a tingling sensation, when you shake hands with someone, grab the doorknob, etc..

Most of us have experienced that. Why does this not so pleasant phenomenon occur more often in winter ?!

That "current" is actually about static electricity. As the word itself says, this type of energy is static, meaning it is at rest. The reason why it is created lies in the unequal scale, ie the imbalance of electrons between the materials that touch. Static electricity is affected by dry air, which is more common in winter. It is most often present when we wear synthetic clothes, walking on the carpet, curtains, etc.

Separation from the ground makes a person more susceptible to the accumulation of static electricity. People used to walk barefoot and there was not such a high risk of creating electricity in the human body.

Nowadays, the time of technology, and primarily computers, leads to the creation of a large amount of electricity. Look at how much dust accumulates on the screen of a TV or monitor during the day. Electricity attracts dust particles.

Electricity itself has its negative health effects such as:

Damage to the skin. It easily attracts bacteria and dirt particles. It interferes with the action of digestive enzymes and the appearance of fatigue.

The first and most important thing is to prevent these health consequences, to make the air more humid, either through various humidifiers or plants. The best solution is that these machines do not fit in the room where we rest or sleep.
