Autism is a developmental disorder that occurs in childhood, most often in the first three years of life, affects almost all mental functions and lasts a lifetime. Autism leads to serious problems in social relations, communication and behavior.

Of all the psychiatric syndromes in childhood, autism has been the most researched, but the cause of its occurrence is still a great unknown. It is believed that, as with intellectual disabilities, brain damage is at the root of autism. These damages can have genetic causes, they can be related to viral infections, complications during pregnancy and childbirth, and other causes. All or only some of the listed causes that lead to brain damage, affect the appearance of autism.

Early means that the child has autism:

He has speech difficulties. He struggles to show his needs. Some autistic children do not speak at all, while others develop speech, but have trouble maintaining conversation.

He can speak with restraint, a shrill voice or a flat tone. He can use only words instead of sentences, or repeat a word or phrase over and over again. He may prefer to repeat the question rather than answer them.

He seems to not understand what people are telling him. He does not respond to his name or cannot follow instructions. He can laugh, cry or scream completely unnecessarily and hysterically.

It doesn't engage much in imitation, it doesn't repeat your movements. He looks happy while playing alone. He shows no interest in other children.

He has strict behavior. It can be dependent on patterns and routines, and have trouble moving on to something new. For example: returning home from kindergarten in another way can result in panic or a fit of rage.

He injures himself, bites or strikes.Repeats some activities, such as. clapping hands. It is hypersensitive to different types of stimulation. It may refuse touch, react poorly to noise, be sensitive to odors, or may refuse certain foods. He does not want to wear clothes with a label or requires clothes made of only one specific material.

He may overreact to a certain pain or not react to one, e.g. may cover his ears with his hands at a loud sound, and not react when he peels his knees.

It may show fear when there is no explanation for it or it may not show fear when it is expected and when it should be a natural reaction.

Many autistic children have a problem when they need to fall asleep, or often wake up during the night, or get up very early.

They have behavioral problems: they can be resilient, difficult to cooperate with, or overly active, they can be hyperactive, impulsive, or aggressive.

Certainly, many of these signs are very similar to the behavior of a perfectly healthy child, who only goes through different stages in his development. Also, a completely healthy child can have his own unique temperament and character, which he expresses by specific behavior or different interests in relation to most of his peers around him. So don’t jump to conclusions and worry unnecessarily.

It is true that people with autism are emotional, want communication. can be educated and can work.
