1492: The Conquest of Paradise is a 1992 French-Spanish epic historical drama film directed and produced by Ridley Scott, starring Gerard Depardieu, Armand Assante and Sigourney Weaver. It shows a fictional version of the journey to the New World by Italian researcher Christopher Columbus and the effect it had on indigenous peoples.

Spain in the late 15th century. Only recently united under a common crown, the country suffers the tyranny of inquisitors who deal with every form of free thought by organizing the burning of witches.

In such circumstances, the sailor Christopher Columbus (G. Depardieu) decides to propose to Queen Isabella (S. Weaver) and her treasurer Sanchez (A. Assante) trade with Asia, by finding a western sea route to India. Believing that in this way he will deal with prejudices, Columbus set sail for India with three sailing ships, not even imagining that he is not awaited by Asian wealth at the destination, but by a completely new world ...

The film did not go well at the box office, some commented that this is a mediocre Ridley Scott film, but overall, I liked the music the most. 1492: Conquest of Paradise is a 1992 music score to the film of the same name by Greek electronic composer and artist Vangelis. Due to the soundtrack's success, Vangelis won an Echo Award as "International Artist Of The Year", and the RTL Golden Lion Award for the "Best Title Theme for a TV Film or a Series" in 1996. The album was nominated for "Best Original Score - Motion Picture "at the 50th Golden Globe Awards in 1993.

I don't know about the film, but the music that accompanies the film is phenomenal. Enjoy.
