Here is a little interesting about the richest man of all time. No no, it's not me, but it's Musa.

With a personal fortune that would be worth 400 billion dollars today, Musa I is officially the richest man of all time.

Musa I, also known as Kankan Musa, was the 10th Mansa, which means "King of all kings", in the once extremely rich Malian kingdom.

Mansa Musa ruled West Africa (Malian Empire) in the early 13th century, and he gained wealth by digging and selling gold. During his reign, more than half of the world's gold came from the Republic of Mali.

He built mosques, universities, encouraged the development of science, especially mathematics and astronomy, but Europe nevertheless became aware of its existence only in 1324.

Namely, Musa went on a pilgrimage to Mecca, and his procession consisted of 60,000 men and 12,000 slaves, each of whom carried one gold bar weighing about 2 kilograms. There were also about 500 newspapers in silk clothes in the procession, which carried sticks made of dry gold. Along the way, he donated to the poor and paid for the construction of a mosque every Friday. He bought a large number of various souvenirs and was such a consumer that his good deeds in Cairo caused severe gold inflation and rising food prices.

It took the city a decade to recover from inflation, despite Mansa Musa, seeing on his return that everything turned out differently than he had planned, buying gold back at high interest rates.

It was the first and only time that a single man in the Mediterranean caused such a financial turmoil in the gold markets. Such generous deeds left a great impact on the people that Mansa Musa would meet on his travels, which is why Mali very quickly appeared on maps throughout the Middle East and Europe. For the first time in history, sub-Saharan Africa became known north of the Sahara Desert.

Yet, only a few generations after his death, all his wealth completely disappeared in several civil wars. The pilgrimages of the West African rulers of Mecca took place before and after Musa, but none of them left such a lasting impression.
