The most common symptom of breast cancer is a palpable nodule in the breast, which is often felt by women themselves. In addition, other signs that a breast tumor is developing are: breast enlargement, which leads to breast asymmetry (about 20% of women have naturally asymmetrical breasts), redness and thickened skin, sometimes skin in the form of "orange peel", "ripples ”Skin, nipple retraction or bloody discharge from the nipple. At the same time, enlarged lymph nodes in the equilateral axilla can be palpated if the disease has spread to regional lymph nodes. It should be borne in mind that not all enlarged lymph nodes are affected by metastases.
What is screening?
Screening involves an examination of the appearance of healthy women, without the presence of symptoms and signs of the disease, which can detect early changes in breast tissue, when effective treatment is possible.
What is mammography?
Mammography is an X-ray examination to detect changes in the breast, which cannot be felt or detected by other types of examinations. Small and harmless doses of radiation are used in mammography.
One of the important items is breast self-examination.
