When you think of fairs, what comes to mind first? Collision cars? The smell of barbecue? How about a puffy candy candy? For many, this is a favorite treat at events like this, and do you know how sugar wool came to be?
This candy was first made in the USA. Namely, the deputy John Wharton and the dentist William Morrison from Nashville patented the first electric machine for the production of sugar wool in 1897. However, it was presented to the general public in 1904 at the world exhibition in St. Louis.
How is Cotton Candy made?
The sugar is heated and dissolves at a temperature of 150 degrees and becomes liquid. Then, it passes through small holes with the help of pressure, and on the other side, thin threads come out, which are "caught" on a wooden stick and, in contact with the air, finally harden.
