In 1974, a group of Chinese peasants had the opportunity to discover something incredible: the tomb of the first ruler of the Qin dynasty. A team of seven people was digging a well near the city of Xi'an when one of the ashes hit the head of a buried statue. People originally thought they had discovered a bronze statue of Buddha, but when archaeologists continued excavations, they found about 8,000 life-size terracotta warriors, as well as horses and carriages made in the third century BC. to keep ruler Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife.

The tomb and the soldiers, each of whom has a unique character, are today one of the most important archaeological discoveries in all of China.

In ancient China, the afterlife was believed 3,000 years ago, so nobles and kings were buried with human sacrifices. Yet people have begun to criticize human sacrifice, so it is believed that terracotta warriors are in fact a substitute for human sacrifice. And if they are brown now, it is believed that they were colored.

The bright colors in question are red, blue, yellow, green. And while the colors were mostly natural, from minerals or from plants, impurities of purple color, which was formed by a chemical reaction, were also noticed. So, it is an artificial color. This chemical reaction was found only in China.
