Starting With Gratitude
It's that time of year when you make a ton of resolutions for the new year. There's nothing wrong with that, but by three months in, a lot of the resolutions have been violated, and by six months in, the majority have become distant memories.
The benefit of making resolutions at the beginning of the year is that it helps you to concentrate on the changes and goals you have for your life. However, the main thing on which your attention is focused is what you feel is lacking or inadequate in your life.
Focusing on wants has a tendency to increase discontent. This may motivate you to work toward acquiring the things you currently lack, but it is not always the wisest course of action.
So why not try something new this year? Why not begin the year by being thankful? Why not build your resolutions on all the positive things that are happening in your life?
That wouldn't be such a bad idea would it? Even in the midst of whatever storm we may have encountered there's always something Positive happening in our lives also, so it's okay to let the positive be your MOTIVATION
Even if being grateful isn't always simple, it's important to look for it especially in those situations.
With this optimistic outlook, you may change your perspective and, ultimately, your perspective will change, which will result in more productive work situations....
