First of all, I am not a fan of any political figure. So let's start, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to shut down Facebook in the Philippines. And to my surprise, some of his followers actually support the idea while commenting and posting it using their Facebook account. You see the Philippines have the largest amount of people believing in fake news. Facebook removed some of the pages that create fake quotes and post photos of political figures mostly oppositions like Leni Robredo that make her look like she's telling the quote herself. When in reality it's all fake.
I disagree with Facebook banning official philippine government pages but I agree with removing the troll pages who are spreading fake news. Some fanatics of duterte bash ABS-CBN for reporting some news that is bad for President Duterte, yet if a page like Mocha Uson creates a hateful remark against the vice president it's alright. Some even going as far as telling for the daughters of Leni to be raped. And now that President Duterte is threatening to shut down Facebook because of shutting down some troll pages, you're supporting it?
Very stupid, without Facebook President Duterte wouldn't have won the election. Banning Facebook in our country is stupid, if you're one of those fanatics who support the shutdown of Facebook then better deactivate your Facebook now in order to show support.
The Philippine has the number 1 spot for the most trolls in social media. The logic of this troll fanatics includes it is okay to bash and throw hateful remarks to any person who disagrees with Duterte. But if someone just states their opinion against the idea of the President it's not okay because I don't know maybe we are not a democratic country who doesn't allow to tell our own opinions.
If Facebook is the next target for shutdown by the government then the result would be disastrous. Millions of ofw send messages every day to their loved ones using Facebook. And without Facebook, the government can just control all the information making us a country like North Korea and China.
Shut facebook down and it will be a revolution.
