Mining is the process or business of digging into a mine to obtain minerals, metals and Jewelry. A goal is something you are trying to do or achieve.
Every good business man or woman has a set goal for their business, whether long or short term goals. Setting a goal in your business or for business helps checkmate the management process in your business.
A lot of entrepreneurs just set out on a business journey without a set goal and that can lead to losses.
Your goals are like raw gold in the mine, which has to pass through different processes before it can be used to make beautiful jewelry.
I'll say that your goals are your golds and your success are your jewelry.
There are different processes involved in mining mineral resources and in our context today, I'll be comparing them with setting and achieving a business goal.
The first step is EXPLORATION:
Your business is your goal mine, so you have to determine exactly what you want to accomplish. Explore your business and set specific, measurable, attainable, reliable and time bound goals. Explore your mine to know what kind of mineral you'd mine out of the earth crust.
The second step is MINE-SITE DESIGN AND PLANNING:
A good design of a mining site is usually in place before the process starts and the same is applicable to your business. You have to answer the questions related to your business goals.
Why do you want to do that in your business?
When will you do it?
Why is it necessary?
Who are your targets?
How will you do it? Etc
When you answer those questions, you've successfully set a concrete plan and a good design for your business goals attainment.
The next step is CONSTRUCTION:
Before mining gold or other mineral resources, the mining company sets up infrastructures like roads, housing facilities, processing facilities, etc that will help facilitate the mining process.
For your business goals, you have to put in place the necessary things , the materials, the work tools, the information and the human resources required for the success of your goal.
On the line is PRODUCTION:
In a gold mine, the raw gold is extracted to the refining furnace and is processed for sale.
This is the stage where you actively start working towards attaining your goals. Setting time limits and deadlines in this stage is paramount because working on one goal more than stipulated time shows unseriousness.
Finally, CLOSURE AND RECLAMATION:
After all processes, the mine is being closed and rehabilitated for new land formation and vegetation.
In business, you can relate this to stock taking of all the process involved,the risk taken, the profit realized and of course celebration of your achievements.
Setting a goal in business is as valuable as gold.
