Cats are best friend.
Cats are beautiful creatures that have a lot to offer their human companions. It is thought that cats were first domesticated by humans about 5,000 years ago and used by farmers to help protect their crops from mice and other rodents.
They are still favorite pets today, often not because of their hunting abilities, but for various other reasons, which I will explore below.
Cats live well in small houses and apartments
Cats, probably the most introverted creatures of all pets, are well suited to living in small houses and apartments.
Cats are easy to care
Unlike dogs, cats don't need walks (although some owners walk their cats on a leash). They are fairly low maintenance – regular litter trays, twice-daily food, and weekly grooming for shorthaired cats.
They are beneficial to health
Studies show that pet owners experience less stress, depression and lower blood pressure. It has been shown that cat owners have an enhanced immune function and can help reduce the chances of allergies and asthma in children.
They look beautiful
Who can resist the beauty and perfection of a cat at home?
Cats are fun
Put an empty box or large paper bag on the floor (never use a plastic bag), some catnip, toys and enjoy the show. It is extremely entertaining to watch cats play.
They offer friendship and unconditional love
I adopted a kitten after the end of a long-term relationship. He was always there to greet me when I got back from work, he'd happily snuggle up on the couch to watch a TV show with me and jump into bed and sleep next to me, listening when I needed to talk. He was my loyal friend for years.
Cats don't smell
The great thing about cats is that they rarely smell. They clean themselves meticulously. The majority of their grooming time is alright and requires very little expenditure (as long as you have a long haired cat).
They are silent
Many cats are known for their love of speech, some cat breeds such as the Siamese, but most cats are relatively quiet. You will not upset the neighbors like a barking dog.
Cats are independent
Don't get me wrong, most cats love attention, but they are also quite content to spend time on their own (grooming, sleeping, watching the world). Most cats do not need constant attention.
