THE GOOD

Do you agree with some or maybe even all of those comments? Video games also have mental and physical benefits. Even if some are just pastime and —as Annette puts it — “forgetting about problems,” that is not always bad.
● The Bible says that there is “a time... For everything under heaven,” including recreation. — Ecclesiastes 3: 1-4.
THE BAD
Are video games stealing your time?
"Once I start playing, I can't stop. I kept saying to myself, ‘Just one level!’ But ‘I didn’t realize it, it took me a few hours and my time in front of the screen!” - Annette.
“Video games eat a lot of time. You sit there for hours and you feel like you have accomplished something because you have won five times, but in reality, you have not really accomplished anything. ”- Serena.
Remember:
If you lose money, you can still recover it. But it is different when time is lost. That is, time is more important than money. So don't let it rob you! ● The Bible says: “Go on walking in wisdom. . . , buying out the opportune time for yourselves. ”- Colossians 4: 5. Do video games affect your thinking?
“In video games, crimes punishable by death or imprisonment are simply 'done' without thinking.” - Seth.
“In many games, you have to defeat opponents to reach the goal. Often, this means that you have to kill them in a horrible way. ”- Annette.
“Sometimes you will be surprised at what you say to your friends as you play — words like 'You will die!' Or 'I will kill you!'” - Nathan.
Remember: Avoid video games that feature things that God hates, including violence, immorality, and spiritism. — Galatians 5: 19-21; Ephesians 5:10; 1 John 2:15, 16.
● The Bible says that Jehovah “hates anyone who loves violence” —not just the perpetrators. (Psalm 11: 5) The video games you play are not an indication of who you are, but it does say what kind of person you are. To think about: The book Getting to Calm says that “compared to television, violent video games are likely to have a greater impact on behavior because children are not just watching violent and cruel characters — they are the stars themselves. Because video games are like teachers teaching you, you are learning violence. ”- Compare Isaiah 2: 4.
THE REALITY
Many young people have learned to be balanced by playing video games. See two examples. “Back then, it took me midnight to play video games. I was thinking: ‘Just five hours of sleep, that’s okay with me. One more level. ’But now, I am in the right place to play. It’s just my hobby that can be done from time to time; but it should be modest. ”- Joseph.
“I play less, and I can do more! I was able to expand my ministry, help others in my congregation, and even learn to play the piano. There is so much more to it than just playing video games! ”- David.
● The Bible says that older men and women are “moderate in habits.” (1 Timothy 3: 2, 11) They enjoy recreation but know when to stop, and they do so with self-control. — Ephesians 5:10. Note: Playing video games is a good hobby when in the right place. But do not let it control your time or neglect the important things in your life. Yes, instead of focusing on how you can win video games, is it not better to focus on how you can achieve your goals, for real life, you win?
