  • Why Think about it?

Many People do not want to worship God anymore because they blame him for their suffering.

  • Think about it

Many Religions, whether direct or indirect, teach that God is the cause of our Suffering.

For example some say:

  • Natural disasters are punishment from God.

  • God still needs the angels in heaven so he takes the children.

  • God has a side in war that causes suffering.

But could it be that religious leaders misrepresent God? What if they are not acceptable to God?

What the Bible Says Our suffering is not from God. If it came from God, it would be the opposite of the qualities he read in the Bible.

Example:

  • “Everything [God] does is just. . . . He is righteous and faithful. ”- DEUTERONOMY 32: 4.

  • “It is impossible for the true God to do evil; The Almighty himself will not do bad things. ”- JOB 34:10.

  • “The Almighty does not pervert justice.” - JOB 34:12.

  • God does not condone false religion.

This includes religions that teach that God is responsible for suffering, as well as those who engage in war and violence.

Prophets prophesy lies in my [God's] name. I did not send or command them or speak to them. Liar vision and. . . what they say to you is a deception of their own heart. ”- JEREMIAH 14:14.

Jesus condemned the hypocrisy of Religions

“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’”—Mateo 27:21-23

Is God to blame for our suffering?

Suppose a father raises his children and provides well for them. Later, one son rebels, moves out of the home, and chooses a self-destructive lifestyle. Would the father be responsible for his son’s conduct? Could the son blame his father for negative consequences that he experiences? In a similar way, we cannot blame God for our suffering.
