True Education;
Knowledgeable people are known to be more successful than noneducated, thus driving the modern world towards a systematic education system to generate more revenue for the government. However, the information we are forced to repeat five days a week is far from actual education.
True education is not forced; rather, it is found when a spark ignites within a person and they burn to seek knowledge and wisdom. There are no requirements to be met for a person's knowledge to be considered as an education, but instead, the student's passion for information and challenging themselves marks them as educated. The modern school system does not yield well to this belief, however. Students' motives are to surpass to receive sufficient grades to advance to college and eventually to become employed. If a school wanted to drive its students towards education, it would have to first stop forcing students to conform to their model of success. A student's success is not defined by a number, but by his passion for knowledge. This passion is not bred in students when they are forced to, though. By making everyone progress at the same mind-numbing pace, as our schools do, you extinguish the flame of the student with passion and drive who wishes to work ahead, therefore destroying what the entire institution stands for- providing an education.
Education is best accommodated for when the teacher ingrains their passion into their material and inspires their students to let their flame burn hot. Not only are the wrong motives employed by the students, but also by the teachers. While it may be viewed as simply as their source of income, it is still their responsibility to raise the next generation with the same passion for knowledge that they were once granted. This passion was shown to me through my eighth-grade science class. Not only was my teacher excited about her subject and passionate about teaching it, but she made it her duty to make sure each person in her class was receiving the joy she was. She made learning fun and inspired me to do better by pushing me to compete in the Science Bowl. This class can best adapt an education by taking, some kind of suitable teaching method. A student will only get what the teacher puts in, and by giving teaching all. Teachers to students have to make learning fun and personally ignite each student's inner flame to strive towards an education.
It is sickening to think of students not being encouraged to challenge themselves, or students who are not passionate about bettering themselves. It is, however, even more, sickening to realize that this is also the world we live in. We need to breed passion, not people able of generating revenue and conforming to society's perfect image of success.
