COVID-19 cases in the Philippines rise to 418,818

The number of patients in the Philippines who tested positive for coronavirus disease increased by 1,968, bringing the total number of cases to 418,818, the Department of Health (DOH) said this Sunday.

The DOH also recorded 10,957 new recipients of COVID-19 under the "Oplan Recovery" program for a total of 386,486 recoveries. The death toll rise to 8,123 after recording 43 new deaths.

Due to those who recovered and lost their lives, there are 24,209 active cases in the Philippines or those who have not yet recovered from the disease, according to the DOH.

Most of the new cases recorded this Sunday are from Cavite, with 107 new cases. Quezon City followed with 97 new cases. COVID-19 has reached 58.1 million worldwide, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

America leads the countries with the highest number of disease cases, with over 12 million patients.
