Two kinds of forgiveness.

Two types of words are usually used to ask for forgiveness in the Holy Quran and in the various duas narrated in the Hadith. .

Irshad in Surah Al-Baqarah,

"Forgive us and forgive us." (Surat al-Baqara: 28)

Looking at the Bengali translation, it may seem that the same thing has been said twice. In fact, the matter is not so simple. Rather, the meaning hidden within these two words is much broader and more significant. The point is easily understood by looking at the original meaning of the two words.

The first of the two parts in the above verse is ‘Wafu Anna’. In Arabic, ‘afun’ means to delete something, to make it non-existent, to wipe it out, and so on. And the second part is ‘Wagfir Lana’. It comes from Maghfirat . Which means to cover something. From there it is called Migfar in Arabic. Because it covers the head like a helmet and protects the head from the enemy on the battlefield.

First, the servant prayed to God that all his sins be wiped out. They are washed and cleaned. So that there is no existence left. It is the highest process of liberation from sin. This demand was much more wanted. Because if the existence of sin is eliminated then there will be no more worries about it. Since the sin is completely gone, there is nothing to be tense about. And if that is not possible, then at least the sins should be covered up. It is not exposed to the public. The value of this forgiveness is slightly lower than the first.

Let me explain with an example. Suppose someone writes about some of your sins with a chalk on a blackboard. This is definitely a matter of fear and panic for you. If people see these, your dignity will go away; At the same time, there is the issue of punishment for this recorded crime. You are therefore repeatedly pleading with the person who wrote it to save you from this danger, so that he may remove the details of your sin from the blackboard. When he saw that the application was not being accepted, he lightened the application a little and said, "Well, you don't have to delete it."

At least cover the words with a cloth so that they do not catch anyone's eye. If the first application had been accepted, you would have been in complete peace of mind. Because of the deletion, there is no chance for others to know. But now as a result of being covered with cloth even though no one else knows the information written about your sin; Yet a mental discomfort will remain. Because if you remove the screen on the blackboard, your pot will break in the market. So an unknown fear will always make you cringe. This is an example of the difference between 'Afu' and 'Maghfirat'.

Usually in case of any application, it is sought first. If it is not accepted, then there is a desire, at least for something that is inferior to it. Absolutely not returned empty handed. Banda has also adopted that method here. This has added a different dimension to prayer. That is, the humility of the supplicant and the longing and longing. I asked for one thing, whether you give it or not, the attitude of the servant is not like that. Rather, he first asked for something from God, the Giver. Now if God does not give it, then what to do! Even if it is less than that, so that he can give it — this time he has extended that appeal to Allah. And Allah sees the humility and longing of His slaves. The more stubborn one is, the faster his prayers will be answered.

In the world, we see that a beggar does not get anything if he leaves without asking once. On the other hand, if you do not do it once, then again, then again, then again, no beggar persists in asking; At one point he was annoyed but was given something. That teaching is also given in this verse. You have to ask Allah again and again. You have to ask in different ways. If not like this, like this, like this Seeing such longing of the servant, he will give him something for a while, inshallah.

From this verse we can take three more valuable initiations. That is-

One. Don't skimp on expectations.

This verse is a great motivation for us. We will always have the highest expectations when it comes to expectations. If it is not fulfilled then we will move towards something less. But if we start with low expectations, we will not be very successful. A person who starts walking for twenty miles will be able to walk at least fifteen miles even if he cannot walk twenty miles. But if in the beginning he thinks, I will walk ten miles, then after walking five miles he will come to his feet.

Two. If you fail in big work, you should not omit small work.

Many times we get frustrated if we don't succeed in any task. I gave up all that I could not gain. But it should not. Kana Mama is better than Nai Mama. Even if you don't get the whole thing, at least you shouldn't miss out on what you get. Even if God does not wipe out my sins, at least keep them covered, that prayer gives us that initiation.

Three. Not without hull.

Without plowing any work. If you fail after trying one way, take the initiative to go the other way. God is not granting a kind of forgiveness? Okay, I'll apologize in another way. But I will not be silent. In this way, after taking one kind of initiative in any work, if it is not successful, I will take different initiative. But I will never give up.
