Greetings!

Democracy is a type of government. Despite its certain drawbacks democracy is considered the best form of government in most of the countries of the world. Democracy means:

"Government of the people by the people and for the people''

In the word of Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of America,

"no man is good enough to govern another man without that mans consent "

A nation or country, facing hunger, disease, poverty, and ignorance can't form a stable and reliable electorate. Moreover, in a country whose per capita income is very low, democracy can't flourish in it. A country where literacy and ignorance prevail the not suitable for democracy. A democratic form of government cannot run successfully in a country whose most of the citizens are illiterate. For the efficient running of democracy, the sense of public spirit selfless service, and nation-wide vision is also essential. A healthy Opposition and a free Press are also the guardians of democracy. The countries of the Third World are still economically poor. Most of their citizen are illiterate. Their per capita income is very low. Ignorance is still permeating in these countries. Their economic position is unstable and insecure. These countries are still developing.

To conclude, a True democracy cannot be established in the Third World as the countries of this world are still in progress and economically in. When the Third World will be it economically sound and when the majority of its citizen will be literate(educated), true democracy will also be possible in the countries of the Third World.

The saddest part is the third world countries continue to keep the majority of voters without access to proper education which keeps the government in power. If all the citizens had a true idea of how badly the government was being run (and what nonsense the false promises are) they would be voted right out. I agree with you - I don't believe it's possible without everyone knowing the facts surrounding it.
