Honesty

Honesty is a moral virtue, it is one of the basic qualities of human character. It means truthfulness in thinking, speech, and action, It negates dishonesty, which is not only a social evil but a social crime. it is one of the basic virtue of man. It is one of the pillars on which the whole structure of society is raised. 

When a man thinks honestly act upon the voice of his conscience follows the moral principles, arrived at correct decisions, and shows impartiality he is honest in his thinking.  If his thinking is crooked, it will lead him in the wrong direction and shows impartiality, he is honest in his thinking. His thinking is crooked, it will lead him in the wrong direction and a bad way of life. If we're honest in our thinking in various fields of life this world would become a Paradise for us. 

We must also be honest in our speech. Dishonesty in speech is inbound to lead us to ruin. The honesty of action is reflected in our dealing with other human beings. We should be honest both in our private and public social evil is the outcome of dishonesty. We are honest only when we are honest in our actions.  If there is harmony in our thinking, speech action, we can profess that we are honest. In the modern age, most people want to become rich and powerful overnight either by hook or by crook. An honest man has to make great sacrifices at every step during his life. It is only the moral strength in him which enables him to resist all the temptation and social pressure. 

Honesty is one of the basic pillars of human society and civilization. In the presence of dishonesty, social life is unthinkable. Greedy and selfish people indulge in dishonest action. The selfish motive forces us to rob the poor and hopeless persons of their rights belongings.   If a man is honest in his thinking speech and action, he is better than Angels,    

To conclude man is not born with the virtue of honesty.  Discipline and moral courage are needed to develop the quality of honesty. An honest man may lose the material benefits, but he can certainly get peace of mind. We should, therefore, be honest in our thinking speech, and action.  In this context, the following verse of the Holy Qurann is noteworthy:  

"That you exceed not the measure.                          But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof". 

(Verses:8-9; Surah Rahman)
