Just Add Water

You might think I'm talking about Mio, electrolytes, or some other powder that will boost your day.  Nope, I'm just talking about lemons.  When life gives you lemons, don't worry about the lemonade, just add water.

Passing along some helpful information that could really boost your day in ways that you wouldn't even think of.

Let me start with, I have been an avid coffee drinker all of my adult life.  There was a point where I would roll from one pot to the next to the next to the next. 

I'm sure you know what I mean.  So much coffee that the stains in my coffee mug were starting to stain. It was that good.  There was just one problem, chronic dehydration.

If you check a wide range of sources, I'm sure that you will find the same information that the folks at Liquid IV will tell you:

Three out of every four people in the world are chronically dehydrated.

I know what you're thinking, I too was there thinking it as well. Well that just has to be the difference in the masses in undeveloped countries who lack sufficient access, etc.  Nope.

While that may be the case, the data is corrected for a whole handful of factors such as access to water, cleanliness and other pollutants.

Basically, you just need to look in your household and you will see the results right in front of your eyes.  

 

Half Your Weight in Ounces

So the recommendation from sports to clinicians is that every day you need to have half your weight (lbs) in ounces of water.  For me that's a little over 100 ounces of water every day.  8 ounces to a cup so you can see it's 12-13 cups of water every day.

Now combine that with all of the coffee, power drinks and other beverages we consume across the world and you might think it gets pretty tough.

It's not and I have something really simple for you to do.  For any large goal, a small consistent step will yield massive results on a larger scale. So here we go.

 

Everyday, the First Think You Do

From this day forward, everyday when you get up, before putting anything in to your mouth.  Have a glass, jar, mug, cup or whatever receptacle you wish ready.  Put it by the water fountain, the filter or just make it easy on yourself.

When you're up, pout at least 20 ounces of water and put it down right away.  Even better take half to a whole lemon and squeeze the juice in.

Here's the benefit of the lemon. Our bodies run optimally in a slightly alkaline environment with a pH or somewhere around 7.3-7.4, nothing higher.  When we are acidic our bodies have to work much harder at our internal processes.

Now it might seem counterintuitive that lemon juice would make a more alkaline mixture as lemon juice is incredibly acidic.  But that's the way the cookie crumbles in this scenario.

 

My 7 Day Challenge to You 

For the next 7 days, make a priority of having at least 20 ounces of water, preferably with lemon, first off in the morning.  Remember if you're using lemon to use fresh lemon.  Most of the lemon juice that is in a bottle has some type of additive.  

When you squeeze lemon juice you have about 30 minutes for it to retain it's true potency, so fresh is always best.  Plus lemons are economical at the supermarket.

After 7 days, you will notice some changes.  They are always different for everyone.  Some of the things you may notice include;

  • less brain fog in the morning

  • more energy throughout the day

  • feeling of excitement and more clarity

  • better digestion

  • less crazing for sweets and other junk food

  • clear skin.

What do you have to lose?  This will take you less than 2 minutes every day and if you're health and energy levels benefit, it's a tiny investment with big payoffs.
