My usernames and nicknames

This article was inspired by @Eybyoung who writes in her article why her username is Eybyoung. Well my username is not really interesting, here is BSzandra, but in most places barczaszandra which is simply my name. My last name is Barcza and my first name is Alexandra which in short would be Szandra in Hungarian and Sandra in English.

I am not sure if there is another country besides Hungary where the last name is first and the first name after that. So when I write first name, I actually mean my last name in terms of order. So, for example, if you were called John Brown and you were Hungarian, your name would be Brown John. If I want to be really accurate, it would be "Barna János".

So not really my current username is just the topic right now because it's not really interesting.

In the past, when even Myspace was cool and similar sites for a long time I used the MissBunkó username, which means Miss Jerk. Hehe! This was in my late teens.

The story of this is that I had a boyfriend and we were just quarreling over something. This boy wrote me something on MSN and I wasn’t near the computer, but my sister saw the message and started chatting with my boyfriend, which I later noticed. My sister tried to comfort the boy about our quarrel by telling him not to deal with what I was saying (I think I said something wrong during the discussion) because I am a jerk. Lol! I was quite upset because I don’t think my sister had the right to see my messages, especially to have a say in my relationship, plus what she wrote wasn’t kind to me. At that point, I changed my username to Miss Jerk as an insult. Then I started liking this name and I started using it on my social media pages, which of course had a bit of self-irony.

So at the time, the online community knew me by that name, which was often funny because someone at a festival when he recognized me shouted after me that Miss Jerk. He couldn't have called me any different because I think few of my "Myspace friends" knew my real name.

Online, even with my current username, they call me in many different ways. For example, Ale, Alex, Zsandra, Zandra. These names don’t bother me at all, Zsandra, Zandra always makes me smile. I think that plus "Z" in Sandra can be very confusing. Hehe! What I really don't like is when someone writes to me "bro" "man" or "sir" ... uhm..hello! I am a girl!

Although there was a group of friends where I was called Sanyi. Sanyi is a nickname for Alexander, which is a male name. The fact that Alexander is the male equivalent of Alexandra is just a coincidence, that wasn’t the real reason I was called Sanyi. Funny that when strangers heard someone call me Sanyi they tried to protect me and scold the one who called me by that name because they thought they wanted to insult me. At such times, I always had to say that this is not an insult, but a nickname for a funny story and it doesn’t bother me at all.

When I started working at the bar that eventually became my favorite job and spent many years there, the first day the boss lady was there with me. She showed me where to find what I need in work, introduced me to guests, and so on. In such bars where only one person works a shift, it is customary for the boss or a trusted employee to be there with the new employee on the first day. Later, by the way, this task was mine. So there were just two of us at the bar with the boss lady when one of the regulars came in and complained that his head ached. He asked Kata (boss) if she could give him painkiller medicine. He said women should always have this kind of medicine in a woman’s bag, so Kata is sure to carry one with her. This regular guest, meanwhile, hardly noticed me and only talked about the theory of the women’s bag. So after a while I said, "Hi, I'm Sanyi and I have medicine in my bag, I can give it to you." That was because he mentioned the women’s bag so many times, but he still didn't ask about it the other woman there (I).

We had a good laugh at this, and the name was not forgotten. After a while, the other regulars started calling me Sanyi as well. Of course, they were also called by my real name many times. Anyway, a good friendship developed between me and the regulars, as well as with the boss. That’s all I wanted to tell you about my usernames and nicknames. Anyway, I think that's a good topic. Because if we get to know the story behind your username, we’ll get to know you better, too. And of course, everyone has stories about their nicknames just like me. Although I don’t think it’s a challenge or contest, yet as I see it, I wasn’t the only one inspired by it. Join us too.

This is the second article I've read about username, it brings smile to me that it's not my intent to make it a chain topic but it does and I agree everyone has it's story behind our username..

Chinese are also the same with you hungarian, they wrote their names like that I mean last name first like for example Hu Yi Tian... Yi Tian was the first and Hu as the last name..

I like your username I know your name would be Alexandra and your username combined with last name is uniquely spelled as well ☺️
